Hello! What is the best size C&C enclosure for two male piggies? They are recently bonded, (about 2/3 weeks ago) and they are currently living in a 2 x 4 C&C enclosure (14 inch grids) I want to upgrade their enclosure but don’t know what would be best, I know there are a lot of opinions, so I would love to hear yours! I go off of this chart below. When I was bonding them, I called my local vet just for tips as bonding is extremely stressful for me, (My Apple Watch told me my heart rate got up to 164!) and I said, I know I have to upgrade to probably a 2 x 5 or something like that. And she said she would actually recommend a 2 x 7 or 3 x 5. I am totally willing to give these piggies the space they need. Let me know… ☺️

As big as you can make it is really the right answer. I had a 2x5 (now divided because these idiots can't get along with anyone) and it didn't always feel like enough when I had bonded pairs.

Don’t you love it? Everywhere you look the advice is they are social animals and need companions, and then we spend so much time getting the cage size large enough so they don’t pound on each other! I swear they’re like all the people on Facebook!

I started (this time) with a 2x4 w/ a 2x2 loft. As the boys grew, I enlarged it to a 2x5 main level. The boys were so bonded (littermates) that they were practically attached at the hip. When they weren't and were really active, I could see that they would have enjoyed a larger cage. Alas, I didn't have the space for anything larger.

They did utilize the loft with sometimes running up the ramp, jumping into the litter box, and back down the ramp. Now that Rafi is a solo piggy, he still enjoys the space, especially when he decides to run zoomies.

Rascal crossed the Rainbow Bridge around the first of Nov. 2022. He was the runt of the litter and always seemed to not be really healthy (respiratory issues). He was a funny, delightful boy who was just full of personality. He became ill, seemingly overnight, and I took him to the Vet the next day. He died late that night.......of course after spending $$$ that day. You certainly know how that goes!🥲

Thankfully, Rafi is absolutely healthy and has never been to the Vet except for a well-piggy visit.
I've been primarily working from home, and his cage sits alongside my desk, so I am effectively his cagemate. I'd love to get him a pal, but times are hard right now and I feel as though we just can't take on another expense.

You don't say much about your boys since you have been busy with Moderator duties?
Love to hear about them. PM me if you wish.
