Best number of piggies

Whay do you guys think is the best number of guinea pigs and why?

I'm trying to convince my mom to let me get two more pigs.

I think 4 is the best amount becuase thhen each pig will have a friend and then none of them will be left out.

Well, for me it's 10. I have 9 now and am looking for another sow.
We just made a condo and it has 5 levels, two pigs per cage.

cool. I am currently building a 3x6 with a 1x6 upper level for my 6 cavies.

Yes and no. I have 3 living together now and they are pefectly happy, they are all eachothers buddies. However, since my cages are only big enough for 2, I have to get another sow so I have an even number and no pig is by his or her self.

i Have three but I think atticus is kinda left out, he doesn't like to cuddle much. I may want to adopt another young pig.

I really don't think there is any definate number other than you should at least have a same sex pair. I think it more would have to do with how many can you "afford" to keep comfortably and provide for.

I have 4 but I could have been just fine with 2 or 3. I got my third, Charity, because she was in a shelter in horrid conditions and now she has a good home with love and everything she needs. I only got my fourth, Moppy, because she is long haired and I wanted a long-haired piggie. I don't want anymore piggies unless there is a situation where there is a rescue piggie in dire need of a home.

3 or 4. If I had to do it all over again, I'd never have more than 3 or 4.

I agree. I like the number 3, but I don't think I have the time for another pig. Anything more than one is the best!

I conntacted a shelter about a piggy that is near Atticus' age,I convinced my mom.His name is Felix here is his picture from petfinder (broken link removed) . I hope it works out. Also, Im gonna expand my cage to a 4X5 so they have more room.

thanks, I just emailed the person and said that I am willing to adopt them. I can not wait to meet them and I hope they have not already been adopted.

If I had to do it over again, I think I'd have one neutered boar and two sows. (Of course, I might not be able to stop and might keep adding sows). As it is, I have two boars and don't want to stir up trouble by adding more.

Actually, Licia, it was really easy to add a third boar.. I had a little bit of complications because Dagwell and Chewie are the same age so it took them longer to figure out who was dominant as opposed to when it was Atticus and Dagwell.

I'm ALWAYS begging my mom for another pig and the answer is ALWAYS no =( I had to wait three years before I got Rodney and that was because Shaggy was lonely. We got Chip after Shaggy died. I think four or five would be a good number. It would be like in the wild. A pack of piggies.
