Polly is really starting to drive me up the wall. First thing in the morning, as soon as she hears my voice, she starts squeaking really loudly - begging. She's got plenty of food but she keeps it up until either I give in and give her fresh greens or Flossy growls at her. When you're trying to get 3 small children organized in the morning for school etc, a squeaking guinea pig is like having a small, annoying, yappy dog! I try very hard not to give into her, but somedays my brain shuts down and I do it without even thinking.

same thing happens to me in the mornings when I'm in a rush to get to class. I just give in everytime and give them some pieces.

I can see how that would be annoying and frustrating. Especially in the morning when you're running around trying to get ready.

I would suggest just giving her some fresh greens every morning! She obviously loves to eat and wants some yummy tasty veggies to start her day off. It only takes a few minutes to get them out of the fridge and give them to her...right?

Good Luck!

To cut down the time, you can always keep some cut-up greens ready for the next day in the fridge! You can chop them the night before, and then when they get hungry they'll be ready! =)

I got over the frustration real quick :) I make the kids sandwiches in the morning and it's no hassel at all to just cut up some veggies and salad for the girls while I'm making salad rolls. It's all out on the bench anyway lol

I keep a salad spinner in the fridge (but it has no food for us in it). Instead I keep my cut up greens, bell peppers, carrots, etc. in it. Then I just need to reach in and grab a handful and toss it in the cage on my way out.

Try this

Sorry to sound so harsh, but just ignore them, they do get the hint after awhile, or try putting them into a room where they do not see you, if they hear you just ignore them until you are ready, our pigs sleep in my daughter's room and when I'm awake onthe weekends they of course wanted to eat, but one or two days of ignoring them until after coffee, they caught on. I do not open the door until I'm ready for them.

You were saying that your piggies squeek a lot. Mine hardly squeek at all, if ever. Is this normal? Once in a great while they will, but not for long. They purr and popcorn and love floor time, but no real vocalization.

Each pig is different. I have two very vocal piggers and one that is almost silent. When Spice warns you to leave her alone, you can hear her. If Cinnamon does it, unless you know her, you would never hear it. Cinnamon is more vocal since Spice moved in but she is very much quiet compared to both Spice and Petunia.

yes

About sweaking, yes we have 2 and only one sweaks when hungry, maybe it's just the pig, or the other one says to herself "I'll let Treyau get into trouble and I'll stay back", not sure.. But it's fine if yours doesn't sweak it's a individal thing.

Polly is very vocal but Flossy only chirps when you are holding her. If I didn't see her I wouldn't know she was there lol. Polly has now learned that she will get fed after we have been. She squeeks at me when I first gets up then chatters at me through breakfast then starts squeeking as soon as I'm fininshed :)
