I have 2 bed pads each 36 inches by 54 inches .
My cage is going to be about 56x42 inches.

Because the dimensions don't add up I'd like to know

1) are the bed pads I put in between the sheets of fleece supposed to cover every last inch? or is it just for the larger center portion of the cage, and if the pigs pee elsewhere, the fleece is enough to absorb it.

2)can you cut and sew together 2 bed pads to fit the dimensions you need? Will this affect the bed pads effectiveness?

Thank you for your help guys.

Fleece doesn't absorb. And if there's no absorbent layer underneath it, the pigs will be walking on wet fabric, which can contribute to bumblefoot.

And yes, you can sow the pads to whatever size you need.

I made spreads with mattress pads, incontinence pads and even bought Zorb and PUL. So far my favorite is the incontinence pads. So easy to work with and so far they hold up real well. I bought the Zorb because I was told that was what they used in the real Piggy Bedspreads. Not that impressed with the performance, and it seems to take forever for the stuff to dry. I really like the ease and performance of the incontinence pads. I think the piggies like the mattress pad though. Whenever I put that spread in they popcorn all over. It has a nice cushion. So I'm torn..easy and inexpensive for me or lots of cushion for them...LOL

You can sew your two pads together. I'd make sure that the pad covers every inch. Some pigs like to back into the corners when they pee. If you use both pads on one liner, you can even make it 72 x 54 inches (or more like 70 x 54 when overlapped). You can trim the sides off to make it 56x42.

Thanks everyone. So the basic gist of it is to make sure there's bed pad throughout the cage and that bed pads can be cut (thx spy for the directions.). And also thx everyone fo the tips. I'll keep them in mind
