How do you feed them asaparagus? Also, on the Common Misconseption thread it says radishes should be feed 1-2 times a month, why?

Asparagus needs to be fresh and you can give the whole spear after washing. I always cut a tiny bit off the stalk end. You can also cut the spears in half if you want. Radishes have a pretty high amount of oxalic acid in them so they are best fed sparingly a couple times per month. Per 100 grams, the oxalic acid count is 480mg which is high. Oxalic acid can lead to the formation of oxalate stones. You want to keep the oxalic acid content in the diet as low as possible.

Thanks Ly!

What about Artichoke (this is what I ment not asparagus, I get these mixed up)? How do you feed it?

I have tried artichoke with my pigs and most liked it. This is how I prepared it: I cut all the outermost green leaves off and threw them away. Then I took the lighter inside green and white leaves and peeled them all off the artichoke. I washed them and cut the very top tip off (it's like a pokey spine) then just fed the leaves. It's ok to feed 2-3 times per week. It has no Vitamin A, no oxalic acid info that I can find but it does have twice as much phosphorus to calcium so feed sparingly or balance it out with another veggie that has twice as much calcium to phosphorus ratio. It has a small bit of Vitamin C in it.

Thanks alot Ly!
