It seems as though there a re a lot of petty little arguments around here, and I'm afraid I'll accidentally start one somehow (actually already have I think?) in my "tail between his legs" comment.. it was an analagy (or WHATEVER)

I mean are we all just such good friends here that we get along, like that, or are there tiffs. (or is that not the technical term?)

I made a comment about the analogy, and I was was corrected. I think most people aren't really fighting, I know I wasn't, I think they're just small tussles for most. And please don't be offended by the comment I made about your analogy, I didn't understand it.

We usually get along, tuggles, but sometimes we just ask questions. It's a bit hard not to sound harsh sometimes when all we have to go by is text. Don't worry about the "tail between his legs", people were just unsure of what that meant.

You know what, I have learned that on this board the main thing everyone here is worried about is the well being of your pigs. Some are really passionate about their beliefs on how people should raise, feed, and whatever else, the pigs, so they get a bit defensive at times, but you just have to first of all not walk on egg shells around people, and second just take the comments with a light heart and don't let it bother you. You should have seen some of the arguements I started by mentioning where I work! lmao it's funny, but I really never meant to start anything, it just happened. SO just be yourself and enjoy the group!!

Exactly. We don't mean anything personal, just about the piggies. It's hard sometimes not taking it personally, but you'll get used to it. ;)

Haha! Don't mess with me, I'll argue with you over the internet! Haha!

Don't worry about it. It's about the pigs. Some people get into it, is all, but that is better than not interested. Yeah? You just have to roll with it abit and do the piggy shuffle. Heck, I've been accused of rudeness, crossing the line, and this and that, even banned, but hopefully I've contributed and learned as well, so it's all good. :)

The internet seems so advanced, like a conversation, but really, we're still writing letters back and forth.

I have in the past and present belonged to many different breed specific message boards, groups and chats, One thing they all have in common is the arguments/misunderstandings.

People get very passionate about their pets especially when they learn about the neglect so many suffer under and get involved in rescuing (even if it’s just promoting it).

Some people lack the necessary “people skills” when they try to educate others. They can appear condescending, rude and/or as a “know-it-all”. Sometimes when their advice or knowledge is questioned they get defensive.

Many forget that the majority of pet owners out there still don’t know their pets’ specific needs. When they stumble onto a group like this they are sometimes treated like idiots. That is often counterproductive.

The hard part is trying not to get upset. After all we can’t win them all and we can’t save all of the animals no matter how hard we try. Sometimes all we can do is say a prayer for the animal/person and hope that everything works out.

Personality clashes happen too. For whatever reason some people just can’t get along with each other. Heck, I was booted off a Great Dane board years ago because of my religious beliefs....what my religion had to do with Great Danes I have no idea.

We had a heated discussion not long ago about the Pres. Election..actually it had more to do with other issues outside the Pres. But hopefully everyone is over it. I know I have no hard feelings towards anyone...others may not feel the same. The important thing is to move on.

I did comment on the 'tail between the legs' thing. I didn't know it was an anology. I thought you said it was running with the tail between the legs like you thought they had tails or something.

I've had PLENTY clashes with others. I don't regret what I've said to people. It's just who I am.

I just think that sometimes people should really think hard about what their words will be interpreted as. Of course, I highly doubt anything will change! In fact, I'm the starter of a conflict sometimes, but I think some conflict is ok. As long as it doesn't go into petty personal battles and is still relevant, it should be fine.

"people skills" are harder to apply when you are typing on the internet. many of the things i say are read as harsh when i meant them as gentle reminders. that a fault of the internet, not of the people.

I am going to say exactly what I think-
I think people on this board get into arguments over some of the stupidest things (a comment, statement, etc). And I also think people here argue a lot with each other. But not every one is going to agree with each other so naturally arguments will happen. We are all here to learn about how to take the best possible care of out piggies. And if some one says something you don't agree with then it is just best if you ignore them or settle it over a PM.
I really like this forum but there are certain things about I don't like. I think members on here (me included of course, I argued over some pretty stupid things too) should try to pick the things they argue about more carefully. Like actually try to pick something worth arguing over (like the recent pet store piggy debate type thing) instead of comments, statements, or the way people word things. But anyways that is just my opinion. Over all I think this is a cool forum, I have learned a lot already!

PS I think everyone here is nice, friendly, and helpful!!

I have to say I agree with three_piggies. Over all everyone is very helpful and nice. But I think there are too many arguments, over stupid little things. I understand that not everyone is going to get along. But I just think some arguments could be stopped before they start.
And to answer your question Tuggles, I think some people are honestly arguing, but other people may not be. It is very hard to tell the difference. Esp. since you are just reading text. Very very hard to tell if some one is being sarcastic, or joking, or being serious.

Ok, I know this is pretty stupid, and I'm not trying to start and argument on an argument thread. But--the pet store "argument" if you will was legitimate as far as I can see. It's dealing with the piggies.

I think that was worth arguing over also.

I think Three_piggies also agrees from what I read-
Like actually try to pick something worth arguing over (like the recent pet store piggy debate type thing) instead of comments, statements, or the way people word things.

Oh, whoops! ;) I didn't read it thoroughly I guess. Sorry about that, it's my fault.
