We are need of a new cage for our VERY loved g.p. and I unfortunately only have a 40"x24" space. Wondering if a 2 story cage is the best option, or a waste of $? Secondly, I wanted to buy a size small C&C cage, which is a bit too big for that space, wondering if you can overlap the wires to make it a bit smaller or not? Any wisdom?

Yes, grids may be overlapped, but you will have to use zip ties or binder clips to connect the grids. If you are buying a prefabricated cage, then you would need to cut the coroplast down to size depending on the space.

OK, thanks. Wondering about the 2 stories... opinion?

How many pigs do you have? Only the main level of the cage counts towards the square footage. Guinea pigs need room to run laps and if you have males, they need more space. Some pigs can trap the other one on the ramp when you add the 2nd level.
