Angry Cavies?

My cavies always chatter their teeth at them when I am just holding them, or if they are sitting on my lap....

I've tried everything to get them to enjoy lap time. They have plenty of room in their cage, so they're getting plenty of exercise. I don't think they're scared of me anymore..... they just don't seem to like me.... I am very gentle with them and speak quietly, etc.

Any suggestions?

Oh, and I've had them for a couple months.

Hi there. Is it just a chewing motion or is it actually loud chattering? If it is the latter, then perhaps your pigs have mites/lice and you are aggrevating them when you pet them.

They do scratch themselves..... but it isn't TOO often...... so I thought it was normal. How can I confirm if they have mites or lice?

seperate there hair on their backs and just watch. if you see any thing- that are moving around then they may have fleas/lice (mine did)-if you do find anything then take them to the vets to get a confirmation and they will give you a med for them that will kill the lice/flea. Mine had them when I first got them and they were on the meds for about 2 weeks and now they are fine. heres a close up picture of what they might look like up close.

Check for sensitivity, if they are uncomfortable when you touch them and they have dandruff, that is a good sign they have mites/lice.
