Am I going to have a giant cavy?

Hey everyone. To start with, I don't weigh my pigs weekly as I should. When I first brought home Mia at the end of April, she weighed maybe a half pound. I just weighed her tonight and she weight 1lb 8 ounces. Isn't that a huge weight gain? I say this with a smile on my face; Am I going to have a 10lb guinea pig?

Hehe, aww she must be a growing girl! I was worried my girl was underweight - at .7 lbs - but he said it was fine since she was still growing. I try to stuff her with as much food as I can, though! Hehe

Mia is about 5-6 months old.

My Halloween is 5.5 kg at approx 3-4 months of age. Hope that helps some! :0)

My Prince and Peanut are at 16 mos and they both now weigh 3 lbs, also Scruffy is gonna be 2 in Feb and he is 3 lbs. I have few others that will be a year in Sept and they are at 2lbs and 13 oz. Most of my piggers are gonna be over 3 pounds.

Funnygpigs: I think you mean grams (not kg)...you would have a very heavy piggy if s/he weighed 5500 grams!

Zeander: I think you're little lady is just filling out...she's only got a few more months of growing left before she reaches her adult weight. Just try to weigh your pig wheekly so you can keep an eye on her weight - if she loses a lot then that's more of a problem than weight gain.

lol that's how my guinea pig is. He's 3 pounds 5 ounces! But I read that was normal for a boar pig.
