Alternative bottom for C&C cage

I have extra tile from some recent remodeling, and I was wondering if it would be a good material to use as a bottom for a C&C cage. I haven't figured out what to lay it onto or what to do about the sides, but I figured I should ask about it before I believe I came up with a genius idea. Suggestions, comments, anyone?

Sounds like it might be heavy, as in difficult to pick up for cleaning. Another drawback is it might be too slick. But it depends on the kind of tile, and the surface area.
