Adults and babies in the same cage?

We are planning to adopt a friend for our 2.5 month old baby girl piggy. If we can't get one the same age, I'm not sure how to handle feeding and hay.

The baby gets unlimited alfalfa hay and unlimited KM alfalfa pellets (plus grass hay and fresh veggies, of course). An adult should not be fed the alfalfa hay and should get only a limited quantity of timothy pellets. So, how to meet both piggies' needs at once?

If the piggy you adopt is under a year old, it is still acceptable to feed alfalfa hay and/or pellets since she will still be growing until 18 months of age. If you adopt an older piggy, I would feed them timothy-based pellets and timothy hay, then supplement the baby's diet with hand-fed alfalfa pellets/hay and high-calcium vegetables.

Having first hand experience with this, I've found that putting the pigs on either a mixture of alfalfa/timothy pellets (limited) or just alfalfa pellets (again limited) and giving unlimited grass hay works well. There really isn't a need for alfalfa hay. Then make sure each has at least a cup of fresh veggies per day and then during laptime, feed the youngster an extra bit of calcium enriched veggies.
