Ok well My friend is looking at getting another two pigges and she was wondering since there are no rescues around here or any that she can get to if it would be alright to get them off someone who is giving them away. Like someone out if the newspaper with an add..... would this be ok because the only other option would be a petstore.

It depends if she's going to a breeder or not.

yeh, there is one ad in the paper giving away 2 female guineapigs to a good home, if we rang them and they were not breeders they just didnt want them anymore or they had some other reason to be giving the away. would it be ok then?

I think so, I did something like that, but it was from my friend's cousin who had him in crappy condition. It sounds good to me.

Yes, that's fine. My CoCo (avatar pig) came from an ad in the newspaper where the owner didn't want her anymore and they had only had her for about one month when I got her.

oh ok then thanks heaps

I got our second pigger through the Guinea Pig Adoption Network (broken link removed)

It's a listing of people looking to rehome their piggers for various reasons (moving, allergies, etc.). There are also listings from rescues and foster families there.
