Hi friends,

My piggy, ViVo, loves to act dead when I approach her. Does your piggies do that too?

This is a picture I took of her :

Vivoactdeadsmall.jpg

The only way to make her come back to life is to open the refrigerator door. Then immediately, she will start to popcorn. When she realised it was not food but just a fasle alarm, she will drop dead again

If she is always laying like that beside a few popcorns now and then it could be a problem, can she walk around normally?

It's cute though!

She loves to play with me ^^ She is able to get out of her cage and go for a walk around the house. She tries to run back into the cage when I approach. But if it too late to get back into the cage, she just drop dead on the floor =P waiting for me to carry her back.

That's odd I never heard of a guinea pig do that haha you sure have a nutcrack. I just hope it doesn't have any underlying illnesses linked to it.

Yes Fay, ViVo can run and walk normally. Not sure if this is imparted by her fore father wild cavy to escape enermies.

I have a theory that one of your piggy's ancestors was an opossum. You've heard of playing possum, right? That is the funniest thing I ever heard.

My daughter suggests a piggy therapist but if ViVo is joking, maybe she just has a (very) weird sense of humor?!?

That's hilarious. Those skinny little legs sticking out! My Sherman will sometimes lay that way when I'm petting her--maybe Vivo wants you to pet her?

As far as I understand, guinea pigs play dead when they are terrified and need a last resort against a murderous predator. Obviously, your pigger is not afraid of you, so I can't think of why she would do such a thing. Really weird but if its nothing to worry about, then it is quite awesome.

Maybe she's thinking "I'm not moving so you can't see me out of my cage on my own". It's like little kids who hide their eyes so you can't see them.

I have heard of fainting goats, but never fainting guinea pigs. Are you sure no one is replacing the water in the water bottle with vodka? lol

My pigs also go flat when they are being petted, it's adorable. But they never do it on their own (Unless they are relaxing/sleeping).

HeHe^^. I tried to pat ViVo and tickle her when she was in this lying position, then she will strech her legs out even further.

Now Oleng is mimicking her! Sometimes we can see both of the lying and streching their legs side by side!! ^^ I will post photos if I manage to get a picture of them doing it together. Haha.
