Now I realise this forum is totally against breeding, and I am too, but I have a question.

Now, leading up to this question I'll say right now we have plenty of homeless piggies wanting a loving owner and that breeding is completely unnecessary and generally just because the owner wanted a profit or simply to see the 'cute little babies'. However, if everyone just plain quit breeding cold turkey... Well, once all the piggies that had been bred before that passed on, there would be no more.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a certain, controlled amount of breeding okay?

I see your point, but there is no way realistically speaking that everyone in the world will all quit breeding guinea pigs at the same time. In an ideal world, a certain, controlled amount of breeding would be okay to sustain the pet population, but that will NEVER happen. :) In reality, given the amount of uneducated folks out there, it is still best to be "anti-breeding" on the whole and promote rescue efforts.

Alright, thanks for explaining that so nicely. I had prepared for a verbal beating. :)
