I was going to get fleece for bedding but it sounds like a lot of work, vaccuming every day, replacing the underneath stuff every week, washing it every other week. I just like using aspen.... replace once every 3 weeks and your good.

You let your cage go for 3 weeks? After one week I have to change mine! So this way it saves money.

That is stupid to let the cage go for 3 weeks without cleaning. The ammonia buildup alone would be bad and I know that there can be ammonia buildup in that amount of time. You need to be cleaning the cage at least once a week cavykid.

I am very weird about my cage! I clean it alot! I just went out and bought fleece today! I'm excited to see how it works out. How often does everyone here wash theirs? I was thinking every few days, every week or every other week seems long. And does anyone notice an odor after a few days or a week?

Just have to put my 2 cents in. I also use aspen in a 2x4 with 2 piggies and I change it every 2 weeks. We all know how piggies have favorite places to urinate and mine are no different. 3/4 of the bedding is dry and clean and usually 1/4 is wet.

In the beginning I was changing the bedding every week, and I thought what a waste this was. Most of the shavings were still dry and good. They would usually urinate as soon as they when down the ramp and naturally by their hay, the rest of the bedding was brand new.

So now I change it every 2 weeks, and there is still alot of clean bedding that is getting dumped, and no smell whatsoever.

Let me mention though that I have a 3 level cage so there may be some urination done on the upper levels even though its never wet up there.

Actually its a ceramic lettuce bowel from the dreaded Petco. I got it a long time ago but I think its very aestheticly pleasing :-D.
