You are such an amazing person. As much as I hate seeing cases of abuse like this, I love hearing your follow up stories because I know that you will get every single one of those pigs happy and healthy and give them a second chance at life.

Keep us posted.

Oopsies doves i meant doves hehe. Ahh well I guess the rspca got photos hopefully they pick up on my mistake...

The pigeons in the photos do mostly look healthy but their were around 5 that had mange and were missing alot of feathers. There was also one with a beak so curved that it couldn've of been able to eat and it was fluffed up in a corner.

Even if the animals themselves had been find the habitat in which they are living is just unnacceptable...if anyone saw it as fine then I'd be questioning how their own animals are cared for because the habitat these animals are living in is just disguisting...

We had " THE BIG WASH " today. It was a day that was pretty quickly planned where volunteers wanted to come over to help wash and care for the sick pigs that came in. Many of the pigs couldn't be touched I knew which would be ok and those that were fairly ok we gave them all a lovely bath and they came up smelling gorgeous and squeaky clean. The volunteers were all very gentle and completely dedicated to the care of these pigs it was a special day for everyone. The volunteers brought over to my shock! several boxes of vegies and one has told us that one of the vegi stores is willing to donate to the cause. We have a Barbeque and lunch it was such a lovely day and it puts tears in my eyes to see these wonderful generous and caring people putting their time towards this cause...there's alot of love out their for guinea pig welfare and I've found in the past year that the support is just growing and growing...anyhow I'll post a couple of piccies from the day today:). I don't think any money was actually raised as the whole day cost me a mint in food and drink lol...but it was all worth it because it brought people even closer together for the cause which is what we need longterm...

Hi Guys,

Below are some photos captured from the day. I definitely gave alot of big thank yous to all that was able to come and help out. Everyone was wonderful with the pigs they were very gentle and we only ended up bathing the ones that wern't to bad there's still another 15 or so to bath I'm considering organising a second wash day as half the people couldn't attend this one and in a week or two the others will be better off to bath.
People brought heaps of boxes of vegies for the piggies and helped supply food for the BBQ it was really a fantastic day and the support was great.

Early morning setting up for the day...
Absolutely gorgeous weather and warmer than normal....something above was definitely on our side today it couldn't have been more perfect weather wise!!! I whipped up a banner for us as 2am in the morning aswell and it came up pretty swell hehehe...

This is Jamie one of the volunteers son. He's amazing with the pigs and his sister a combination of really good parenting plus the kids are just naturals with the pigs. They handle them very gently and then gently place them in their playpen on the ground. This is their piggy Little Miss she was actually quite content in his arms...

I cannot imagine seeing all those poor things in there together all sick and afraid like that. I may just be learning all that piggies need but even I know that type of environment isn't acceptable for bugs let alone an animal. Were any of the sows pregnant? If there were boars and sows together and I'm assuming they were. People like that shouldn't be allowed to just go on saying how they have healthy pets and nothing happen to show them just how bad they've done those creatures. But where on earth are you going to find homes for them all? You have so many already, I think that's great by the way, it's just sooo many. I LOVE your Big Wash idea, what a great community you live in where people are willing to come by and help animals in need like that. Plus they got to play with all the cute piggies. GOOD LUCK to you and I just hope for every person who mistreats animals there is someone like you in the world also to save them.

That's awful, animals just don't deserve such cruelty.

Wow, the pigs look much healthier in your later pictures! Good luck.

HI Guys,

guess I should do an update on this cases huh:)

Well I have both bad and good news...the bad news is that eventually the DPI did get back to me and when they went to inspect the owners place of these piggies and doves and other animals sadly the doves were gone the DPI did get out their within the week so I'm not sure what happened to the birds maybe they were given away I don't know umm anyhow yeah due to the fact the other animals were no longer their sadly they couldn't charge these people or take the case further. It was a big disapointment for us but at the same time the people arn't getting animals again and the guinea pigs were saved...I really wish more could've been done because the work you put in when you find animals in this state it's just not justified when the original owners get off scott free for the mistreatment/neglect/harm they let the animals endure.

Some of the piggies recently were adopted out all went to better than approved homes just the most wonderful families...
All up three of the sows turned out to be pregnant and all thankfully littered fine. One of the sows was poor " Joy " who was one of the worst cases suffering bad mange/malnourishment and she was feeding 4 babies when she came in who were also suffering from mange. As it turned out on top of this she was pregnant yet again! Luckily within the coming weeks she littered two little bubs Huckleberry and Raspberry just fine. Umm Joy and her baby sow plus Peony and her one bubby sow they went to their new home just last week all together to the best home possible lets just say they're being given the royale treatment by their new family lol.

Umm anyhow out of the 32 piggies their are 17 piggies still here. Some still can't be adopted out they are still recovering or suffering from trust/psychological issues umm yeah some just can't be held without freaking out so they'll have to stay a bit longer. The worst boar " Balthasar " he's also still recovering he was in a really severe state with the mange and dermatitis and he's still gaining weight and condition.
A good half the guinea pigs have permanently " chewed " ears they obviously were eating each others ears at this place since they had nothing else to eat some of the pigs ears are very badly chewed.
Umm and one of the boys has permanent eye damage/blindness in a part of one eye I'm assuming caused by injury at the place.

Will try get some update piccies for everyone!

Jess
