I know deep in the back of my mind i have enough piggies ( I wont tell you how many) but I have been wanting to get another male to play around and be friends with my other two males. Has anyone ever heard of housing 3 males together? Would they end up fighting?

thanx Cinn&Sprinslave

It can be done, although you'd need to give them a lot of space https://guineapigcages.com/, and as there would be no guarantees they'd all get along well, you'd need to be prepared to house one separately and find him a buddy to pair up with.

What I'm more concerned about is that you already think you have too many pigs. If the reasons why are related to how much time you have to clean, feed, cuddle them, or anything financial like having more than you could handle vet bills etc for then for the sake of your pets, think very seriously before expanding. I know it can be exciting to get a new pet, but it's not at all exciting for your other pets when it's at the expense of the care and time they're given. You need to be able to recognise when you've got your hands full, and resist temptation whether that point comes at having two guinea pigs or fifteen.

If your two boys get along well now and are happy together, there's no reason to change things.

You bring up some good points!!! Since I think I already have enough of them then i guess i will just stick to what I have no sense in getting in over my head.
Thanks for the great advice Treen!!

So how many do you have???

I wanna know too ;) They are addicting little things aren't they!

I agree... I think I'd have a whole herd if not for the parents... oh well. =)

Well it started about 3 years ago I got a boy (cinnamin) and a girl (ginger) they were from a pet store they lived in separte cages.
Then I went to a feedstore (they treated their animals horribly) so I bought a piggy and took it to the vet. It had mites and vitamin deficency. Named him Oreo.
Next when i went to the shelter I adopted a female name Honey
Then the next time i went to a pet store i bought another female named Sugar she ended up being pregnant and had Chocolate, a male.
I figured that 6 piggies was enough but when i went to the shelter donate money, I looked at their animals they had two female piggies. Who had been abused and were very sick. They were 5&6 years old. I thought why not get two more they needed a good home. So guess what I adopted them. Strawberry and Rasberry were their names.
But last summer Strawberry died. And this spring Rasberry died too. I am still very sad.
I went to the petstore and got Gopher the only guinea pig i have that isn't names after food. SHe is a female
Then about a week 1/2 ago I got Sprinkles a boar to be a friend to Cocoa whoops I fogot to tell you about him!!!!!!!!!!! Oh ya i found a home for Chocolate, because my friend wanted him.
So basically I have 9 piggies. They are so addicting.

I must say that out of all the small animals i have had they are the most addicting

Well, we got Porky two months ago. We decided to get Porky a buddy so we brought home Beans. We ended up getting Patches (who was Beans' cage mate) because we couldn't stand the thought of him being left all alone. So we have 3. I promised my husband I wouldn't get anymore. We have one for each of our boys. But really, they are all mine ;) And spoiled rotten I might add!

I have six piggies now. Two of them got sick recently and it was most overwhelming.

I don't think I'm adopting any more pigs for a long time.

cinn - just make sure you can afford the vet bills if they get sick. With that many pigs, it's very possible to have multiple illnesses. Otherwise, enjoy your herd!

I know this may sound crazy but I have a fund in the bank set up for my piggies if I am running low on money that month or one or more piggies get sick.
I have a fund in the bank for all my animals.
I have made a promise never to get any more animals because I have enough now.
I do enjoy each and every one of the guinea pigs their personalities and all. They are just so much fun!!!!!!!!!!!

At one time about a year ago I was hurting for money and I had to think about giving up some of my animals but decided not to (because they were my responsibility and I made the choice to have them). I just used the money in the funds and cut back on what I bought that wasn't nessecary. At that time I realized just how much I buy that I don't need. I now have better judgement and save money.

Obivously i didn't stick to my promise because I wouldn't have nine piggies if I did. But i am promising my self right now that i will never get another animal, ever. I am going to write this down on paper.
I have a home for each and everyone of my animals if something happpens to me. The homes are with friends and relatives. All of my family and friends love animals. And they have agreed to take them if something happens to me. When ever I go on vacation I have three different people come and check on my pets. To make sure they are ok. I would probably call everynight to find out how my pets are doing with each person but I am not that weird lol, I only call the last person that checks/care for them.

What kind of piggies do you have

So what kinds of piggies do you guys have?
I have 2 Texels, 1 Pervuvian, 1 Merino(not sure thats what someone told me), 1 Teddy (I think not positive), 1 silkie, and 3 american.

Now that's some smart planning! We kind of do the same here, but it's worth it for the little guys.

We have three Abbys, one Abbyruvian, one Peruvian and one American piggie. The Abbys are in one cage, and the other cage is quite an eclectic mix of pigs. And it's all possible with two spays and a neuter.

Sounds like you have a beautiful herd!!! I have one nuetered piggie and one spayed piggy. The rest aren't nuetered or spayed because they are paired in same sex pairs. I love planing for some reason! I always plan for the future. It just makes everything easier that way. I would do anything to make my animals happy... Well almost anything!!

Wondering if having 2 "whats" are safe????????? Well if you are talking guinea pigs there isn't anything wrong with having 2 males or females. I wasn't aware that if you have two piggies it is unsafe???????????????????

I LOVE that idea. I should do that for my pets too, just to be safe.
