I'm wanting to add a loft that runs along the short end of my cage. Since its two wide and one deeo, and the cage is two wide and four deep, do I still need supports under it or will the three walls its connected to support it well enough? And shoukd I raise the walls around the whole cage or just the loft part? Basically I'm not an architect but really want this to work.

There shouldn't be a need to raise the walls around the whole cage. Most people put the extra height just around the 2nd level.

High high will the loft be? Mine is only mid-way up, so I didn't extend the wall height at all. I have a 2x4 cage with a 2x1 loft. (My loft is centered in the back. Since it's not in the corner, I have PVC as support on the front edge of the loft.) I'm not sure if those with the lofts on the side are using a support bar. I would guess they are. Only one support bar would be needed-- across the open side.

When we first built our C&C cage, we did a 1x2 loft at one end. We did find it a bit 'floppy' so put a dowel rod under the front edge where the ramp was attached. We also closed it in a bit just to be safe.
