Cyst Does this look like a cyst?

If his behavior is still the same then that's probably a good thing, but since guinea pigs are animals of prey they can mask their pains and illnesses very well. I'm no medical expert but I would strong advice you to go through guinea lynx and see what you can find as well as (obviously) finding...

Cyst Does this look like a cyst?

Check out guinealynx.com. Specifically this link for information about cysts: https://www.guinealynx.info/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25794. But I don't think that is a cyst personally. How old is he? How long have you had him? How quickly did this show up? Personally, I wouldn't want to wait until...

Teeth Not Sure What To Do About Teeth Grinding

I believe Ly says in the nutritional chart that a baby carrot is okay to give everyday. I always refer to the following when it comes to vegetables. https://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/diet-nutrition/22156-read-me-guinea-pig-nutrition-charts-poisonous-plants-list.html and...

Impaction Young boar beginning to become impacted?

Thank you! I just picked some up. Princeton is in good health. The poop is not actually getting stuck in the rectum, it is getting stuck between the glands around his penis (I forget the name of it). They get this waxy build up that's typically used for marking their territory, and he is one...

Impaction Young boar beginning to become impacted?

Is that product simply called "mineral oil"? I don't want to get the wrong thing. And that doesn't hurt them? Sorry I'm a bit paranoid! It's too late to run to the stores now but I will definitely pick some up in our travels tomorrow!

Impaction Young boar beginning to become impacted?

Last night I noticed a little piece of poop stuck to the rear of my black abyssinian, Princeton. When I went to pull it out I noticed that it was actually stuck inside the anus. I pulled back his little cheeks and there is a fair amount of "squishy" poop stuck in there. He is only 8 months old...

    Urine Calcium spots

I don't think it's related to your problem but I have been told that celery and cucumbers should not be given daily but more like 2-4 times a week. Those happen to be my boys' favorites, so was I do is one day give celery with their veggies, the next I give cucumber and then I don't give either...

    Genitals Discharge?

I do not know what is happening to your piggy but my best advice would be to find a cavy savvy vet asap! While the advice on this forum is good, it cannot replace the medical attention that can be provided by your vet.

URI/Upper Respiratory Infection URI and Bordetella diagnosis

When I got my Princeton from a Petco, he turned out to have lice as well as what the vet thought was pneumonia. I went back to the store and they told me exactly what they told you, that I would return him. I went nuts! I wound up screaming at 2 employees and the manager about bonding with him...

    Injury Hurt Neck

I'm not sure if this is technically the right board for me to post this. About half an hour ago my two boars got into a little "tussle" like they do several times a day. It's never that bad and no one ever gets hurt. Chip, who is usually the instigator, came out of the fight with his head cocked...

    Stones Another stone

I'm so sorry to hear about your pig. I'm saying a prayer for the both of you! I'm wondering what part of long island are you from? I live in nassau county and I wouldn't dream of giving my pigs tap water from here! Lol a few years back some kind of gas leek got into our specific water supply.

Neutering/Spaying Introduction Male to Female after neutering

Cavy Spirit says to wait 3-4 weeks. Guinea Pig Neutering, How to Neuter your Guinea Pigs I'm neurotic so I would wait 6 to be sure. LOL. But definitely give it the 4 weeks if you can. You don't want the patter of little piggy feet running around.

Vet HELP! Guinea pig could have lice?

I would still take your piggy to the vet. I have 4 guinea pigs and when I took Princeton for an unrelated vet check, we found lice on him. I went home and looked at the other 3 and only found it on one but took them back to the vet just to be safe. She found lice on every single pig! Just be...

Eyes/Non-crusty The babies have arrived!! Have some questions.

I am so sorry about the little one =( RIP. This thread is very interesting to me. I just was joking with my boyfriend about getting a girl guinea pig to bread (I've started a trend among my friends, they all want them now) and then saw this and said "YIKES!" I wish you the best with your babies...

    Coughing Allergies?

So my Fiyero has been coughing, not a lot but a bit more than usual the past couple of days. I thought it was nothing at first, cause I just did a major clean of my room and assumed I must have kicked up a lot of dust- I've been sneezing every time I'm in my room since then. However, I noticed...

URI/Upper Respiratory Infection URI symptoms, or just a paranoid mommy?

To add a note about the bedding, wood shavings hold a lot of the smells in from their excretions and can create allergy problems for you and your girls. If they (hopefully) are not truly sick, switching the bedding will most likely improve their behavior!

URI/Upper Respiratory Infection URI symptoms, or just a paranoid mommy?

Take your girls to a vet ASAP! Almost the same thing happened to my Princeton over the summer (I too was using Cedar, I did not know how bad it was for them!) and he wound up having pneumonia. He's perfectly fine now I should add, but we had to quarantine him for about a month until it was...

Scratching Treated for Mites... Now What?

I don't know if there's a difference but my 4 pigs had lice over the summer (that's right, 4 very itchy pigs, it was not fun). They were treated with ivermectin twice. I took them back for their follow up and the vet told me they were all clear. When we were home I still thought they were...
