I just received my new batch of hay 3rd cut Timothy from KMS which I've ordered from multiple times before and it has always been perfect. However, this time it's a little different. It is extremely soft (and sort of limp) it feels more like grass than hay. It also doesn't have the really nice...
I can't find any places around here that sell hay! And I know there's a lot of farms in CT! Does anyone in this area know of somewhere to get it? I've been getting my hay online from Sweet Meadow Farms and there's 50% crap in it, if not more. I spend hours a day trying to get the actual hay out...
I've had a lot of trouble with hay since the beginning. I'm wondering where everyone else gets their hay and what their recommendations are?
The problem I have is that there is too much 'not hay' in my hay. clover, weeds, twigs, crushed up hay powder, etc. It takes me 1+ hours just to sort...
I've had them for about 5 months now, I hope that's true! One is a lot more picky than the other though. And speaking of fruits, they're afraid of strawberries! It's the strangest thing. They'll come within a few inches of it, smell it, and then run away!
I'm looking for some suggestions as to what vegetables to feed my girls. (Yes, I have the food chart-but I can't find much they like!) I'm talking about vegetables, not leafy greens (they like those). I like to pre-cut a few days vegetables so I'm not doing it every day, especially on work days...
I have some lettuce seeds I'd like to plant..it's a mesclun mix of arugula, endive, and green & red lettuce which I know are safe (they're on the food chart), but it also has cicoria which I think is just chicory? I also have a another package of black seeded simpson which I'm assuming is safe...
How much pellets should you be feeding a pregnant pig? I have two pregnant piggies and I've been giving them each 1/8 'oxbow young guinea pig pellets' a day (1/4 total). I just realized that on the bag it says to give pregnant pigs unlimited pellets (as well as young or growing pigs). I haven't...
I'd like to order some hay from Sweet Meadow, the Oxbow timothy hay is not working for me. It seems very expensive and my piggies only eat half of the bag and leave all of the hard stems. I want a hay that is softer without the stems, but will it being softer not wear down their teeth as much...
I've been stressing out lately because I don't know how old my piggies are. I have the oxbow adult pellets because I thought it was the safer bet. (I know adult piggies aren't supposed to have alfalfa, which I know are for younger piggies.) I've had them about 2 weeks now and if I need to switch...
I give it in their food (pellets) not in their water, as I said above, and they gobble all it all up! Would it hurt at all if hey got a little extra from the drops? Especially if there's a day they don't get quite as many vegetables?
If I am giving my piggies veggies, do I still need to be giving them the vitamin c drops? In their pellets, not their water. They eat them just fine, but I'm not sure if I should give them both to make sure they're getting enough?
I've been feeding my 2 pigs 1/8 cups each a day (1/4 cup total). I've been doing 1/8 in the morning and then another 1/8 around lunch-dinner time. My problem is that they eat it very fast and then have nothing later (as in pellets.) They have unlimited hay all the time as well as 1+ cup of...
