I've been having the same issue with some fleece I bought by the yard -- no detergent, vinegar, and straight regular dawn, 6 wash and dries later still not wicking -- I think there is just some stubborn fleeces out there.

I suggest only using 1 layer of uhaul. Sewing through 2 layers can be troublesome, and I have to dry my dbl layered liner twice. I just put extra uhaul padding underneath my cage liner in the base of cage. i use a standard thread It takes longer but I highly recommend pining your fabric...

Are you trying to sew through towels? That might be part of the problem. I just recently used two layers of fleece and one layer of uhaul with no problem. I use heavy duty thread. Also make sure ur needle isn't dull.

I will definitely look into that needle, but does it go through uhaul padding too? I think that was my biggest issue, I attempted two layers, with two layers of fleece.

Thanks for the advice :) I do use pads under my water bottle but my girls have a litter box and generally do all their business in there.

I received a sewing machine from my mom two years ago, and was clueless -- using youtube I now make quilts with my machine :) everything you need to know can be found on YouTube, use those tutorials!! Practicing with things like pee pads is a great way to start sewing and sharpening your skills :)
