need advice on making a cage

Typically the flooring goes as follows: Coroplast on the bottom, a few layers of towels, and one layer of fleece on top. Droppings get sweeped daily and towels and fleece washed once a week.

Stands C&C Stand - 2 grids high, too high?

Nice! I haven't noticed anyone else on here from NM yet! I'm on the east side of Albuquerque, the heights area :)

Stands C&C Stand - 2 grids high, too high?

I think it would be ok if you had enough zip ties and supports. Our cage is on a fairly tall table, taller than a card table for sure and taller than two grids. I can clean it just fine; it's not too high. I like having them up higher because I don't have to break my back to clean the cage, feed...

Upper Levels Babies + Upper Level?

Ours are only 4 days old, lol. I have a mini cage I put them in when I clean the big one and completely spaced putting the poster board in BEFORE the babies. Needless to say, I had a tiny pig running across my living room :)

Upper Levels Babies + Upper Level?

I've been wanting to put an upper level on the girls' cage for a while now but I'm wondering if it's safe to put one in while we still have the babies. Obviously it can wait a while until we find the babies a new home but I've already got all of the materials and am somewhat excited to maybe...

It looks fantastic! I'm so happy that you finally got your cage done! Congrats!

Cage C&C Cage In Great Condition

I saw at least one cage in the cages thread that had no grids and only like 4 inch sides. I've got 6+ inch sides with grids and my older girls have never even attempted to reach over the side or get out. The babies we just had however seem VERY interested in trying to get over the sides so we've...

    Cleaning Sweeping the poops

We just put ours in our regular trash and it never smells or makes a mess. Putting a trashcan on your patio sounds like a great idea! I had a trashcan in my bedroom when I lived at home and had my chinchilla.

C&C Alternatives New Here + Some concerns!

Same here, if you live close to where I'm at I'll donate my extra grids. Actually, if you live close enough to connect I'd be willing to buy a new set of them. An extra $20 for some grids for rescue pigs certainly wouldn't kill me ;) The question now is, where do you live? lol

    C&C Securing a C&C cage?

No one called you names. And if you actually read the previous posts you'd see that, yes, there are people who live in Australia who have posted above. And as I said before you could have the people adopting them sign a contract saying that they will be housed inside, etc. And I think everyone...

    C&C Securing a C&C cage?

I have family in Australia, it definitely gets too hot AND too cold for pigs to live outside. I completely agree with above posters; it would be better to rehome them. You can draw up a contract for the adopters to sign saying that the pigs will have C&C, be indoors, get proper care, etc. That's...

    C&C Securing a C&C cage?

Re: 2x3 for three girls? I'm also going to assume that these are the same pigs you have living outside (info based on another thread you started). Not only do you need more room for them but you need to make sure that the are kept at a safe and comfortable temperature. A slight breeze might not...

    C&C Securing a C&C cage?

Re: Making a C&C cage secure? You could probably poke a hole through the coro and zip tie it to the grids but if the grids are sturdy and the coro sits inside them it should be fine. I worry about them being outside though. Everywhere I've lived (I've lived in 9 different cities/states) that it...

    C&C Securing a C&C cage?

Re: 2x3 for three girls? I agree with PPs. You really should wait on getting the dog and make sure you have the time, space, and resources to take care of the piggies first. We had our dog before the pigs and if there was ANY way I thought he would have to sacrifice for the pigs we would never...

    Cage outdoor enclosure

I thought I read somewhere that it's between 65 and 72 degrees. I don't know for sure because we always have our heater/AC set to 70-72 so I don't worry about it

    Cage outdoor enclosure

I would LOVE to have some outdoor space for the girls when it gets a little warmer but in NM we don't really have grass :/ Our whole yard is gravel and dirt :(

Upper Levels Support for the upper level

I just bought some L shaped shelf supports. I haven't made the loft yet to say how well it works but I'm thinking it will work just fine.

    C&C Newly Created C&C Cage

You score one side of it, don't cut all the way through, and then fold the sides up and tape them together. I wouldn't use glue just because I'm not sure how durable or safe it is. A friend helped me and he did end up cutting all the way through in a few spots so I just used tape on ALL of the...

    C&C Newly Created C&C Cage

The bottom is Coroplast, sometimes called corrugated flute board. You can get a 36" by 72" sheet at Home Depot for less than $12 but they call it Twinwall or something I think. It only comes in white at Home Depot though. I do know you can order different colors from guineapigcages.com though.
