Introductions Introducing 2 pairs of boars. - success?

I was kind of thinking the same thing. It would give them a larger space to have to run around in. For some reason they seem to want to be in the same "section" all at the same time.

    Introductions 2 boars + 1 boar=?

In my experience it doesn't matter if they smell each other or not, it's all about the face to face meeting. I had two boars once, that happily lived side by side in a divided cage. They would act normal even if they saw each other through the bars but if face to face with no bars separating...

Introductions Introducing 2 pairs of boars. - success?

I had a pair of boars Percy and Piglet that have been living together for the past 3 years. Percy is 3, Piglet is almost 7. Last year I adopted two boars who were both about a year old. I've been keeping them in separate cages in separate rooms, but I moved 6weeks ago and put both cages in...

Loss Pigtures of past pigs, and your favorite sory of them!

Peanut was the most vocal guinea pig I've had. He was always squeeking, wheeking for attention, and when it was veggie time, his wheek was always the loudest! Unfortunately his time with me was far too short. He started having strokes shortly after he turned 3. It got to the point where he...

Special Needs Post Surgery Piggy needs to gain weight! Help Please.

He's eating great on his own, I'm not sure if I want to force feed him. Yesterday and today I gave him two servings of vegies instead of one, and each day 3 times gave him canned pumkin, which he absoulutely loves. He tries to lick the plate clean!. I weighed him again today and he was at...

Special Needs Post Surgery Piggy needs to gain weight! Help Please.

There wasn't much choice it had to come out. The vet explained the risks going in, but Piglet did great. :) The tumor was much larger than the vet originally thought. I think a bit of weight was lost during surgery due to the tumor being removed.

Tumor Mammary Gland Tumor causing all these symptoms?

I posted this on the diet forum too but I'd thought I'd post it here too. Piglet is seriously underweight. Last time he was weighed several months ago (I'm ashamed to admit) He weighted around 1150grams. That's been about normal for him. Today he weighed 835 grams. He didn't seem that light...

Special Needs Post Surgery Piggy needs to gain weight! Help Please.

Hi! My nearly 6yr old boar Piglet just had surgery to remove a tumor on Monday, and he is way underweight. My other 3 boars weigh between 1275-1385 grams, and Piglet today only weighted in at 835 grams! He's always been the smallest but his normal weight is around 1150 grams. He's eating and...

Lump Scampers' lump, surgery, and recovery

Re: Post surgery, GP is not eating or drinking much My almost 6yr old boar Piglet had a large mammary gland tumor (lower abdomen) removed on Monday. By Wednesday evening he was almost totally back to normal eating/drinking/energy levels. I did have to somewhat force him to drink and eat...

Tumor Mammary Gland Tumor causing all these symptoms?

Piglet is doing great so far! He's eating, acting normal and his energy levels seem to be greater than that before surgery. He doesn't seem to be drinking excessivly like he did before surgery either. I'm optimistic about that. He goes up to the bottle and has a couple licks like most other...

Tumor Mammary Gland Tumor causing all these symptoms?

Well so far Piglet is doing well. Last night he was eating bits of veggies here and there but not alot at one time. I kept waking up every couple hours and fed him however much vegies he would eat. Today I put him back in his normal cage with Percy and the two of them have been doing good...

Tumor Mammary Gland Tumor causing all these symptoms?

Piglet is back from the vet. The vet said surgery went well even though the tumor was very large :(. The vet gave him a pain shot and piglet is really inactive and not moving around alot, but the vet said this would be normal for a bit. I'm still worried because I've never seen him this...

Tumor Mammary Gland Tumor causing all these symptoms?

Yes he's planning to. Piglet will get a Baytril injection after surgery before he goes home and then I'll get some oral to give him for a week too. I'm nervous as he's an older pig especially if he's having other problems on top of the tumor. His enery is good right now and he's eating...

Tumor Mammary Gland Tumor causing all these symptoms?

This is my regular vet. I feel He's the best that I have available to me as I do not live in a large city. He said the Xrays looked like it had not spread but he said he could not guarantee it. I've decided to go ahead with the surgery. Even if Piglet has other issues at this point this is...

Sick Pig still getting sick after 3 2+week rounds of antibiotics.

So Percy got sick a couple months ago with sneezing, wiping his nose, nose dripping and wheezing. So I took him to the vet and he got a 2 week dose of Baytril. While he was on the Baytril, there was no drippy nose, no wheezing when he breathed, but he still sneezed. Within a couple days of...

General 4 boars in two cages. One cage smells fine, one constantly smells bad- why?

You know now that you ask, my oldest boar Piglet who is 6 and in the stinky cage, drinks ALOT. A lot more than any other pig I have or have had. *smacks head* I guess I never stopped to think about the obvious result of drinking more water. What would cause a pig to drink an excessive...

General 4 boars in two cages. One cage smells fine, one constantly smells bad- why?

The cages are in two bedrooms that are side by side. Both cages are on the 'outside' wall of the rooms, under a window next to a floor vent. The two bedrooms are identical in layout and size and the cages are in the same spot in both rooms, so I dont' think environment is a factor, but that's...
