They will occasionally put their paws up there if we aren't fast enough getting their veggies to them, but they've never attempted to escape. In fact if the fronts are off of the cage and we have them out on the floor, they will usually try to run from us and hop up in their cage to hide. Lol

It may not show well in the phot, but there is a 7" tall piece of plexiglass across each section that slides into the slotted rails we made from aluminum L-shaped trim.

Each section is 27.5" wide and 16" deep, with 8"x8" doors. Unfortunately, that's as wide as I could make the doors due to the metal adjustable shelving brackets that are inset into the sides. If I took this brackets out, the piggies would have easy access to gnaw on the edges of the wood. The...

Ooooh that's an excellent idea!! DH says we should wait and see what happens after we get them to decide if we need to modify it because we've only had it put together and "finished" for 3 days after working on it for a week. If we are able to get babies from the shelter, the current set up may...

Ok great! Thanks for the info. These are only 1" apart. So check this idea out and tell me what you think. If I find a way to hinge the shelving at the bottom and latch at the top, with the bend at the top like this: Then it would also give me a place to hook on those hanging chew toys and help...

How close do the bars need to be to keep from being dangerous for them?

So I dug around in the garage trying to come up with some other solutions. I thought maybe I could use some wire shelving by putting the L-bracket under the fleece flipper and the existing plexiglass brackets would keep it from tipping out. My concern would be if the wires are too far apart. I...

I'm not entirely sure what kind of grid I could use since these openings are too small for one grid, but too small for two I think. I guess my other option, but much less preferable option, is that I saved the doors from the credenza, so if need be, I could maybe get a cabinet maker to cut out...

Wouldn't that make he poops more likely to fall out with just grid at the bottom?

Yeah, I've been to my friends house with her c&c cage and she has the same problem. I think her walls are only about 5" though. We did buy a small vacuum with a hose so we can hopefully clean up the poops at least once or twice a day. Any thanks for the compliment on the fleece. This is one of...

We are getting our first 2 piggies after the holidays. I did a ton of research on cages and knew I wanted something that would look nice for our living room too, but I can't seem to find any guidance as to how high an open cage wall needs to be to keep them from jumping/climbing out. I wanted to...

This is a view from the other side with the ceramic sleigh that has snuggly fleece inside. We won't be getting our piggies until we are able to go to the rescue shelter after the holidays, but we are very excited and did a LOT of research to hopefully give them a very happy home.

Plexiglass fronts are removable for easy cleaning. We can also flip it over for a second clean side before needing was

We took the doors off of a 90"x18" credenza, added plexiglass half-wall panels in the front, cut out pass-through holes between the cabinets and trimmed them with aluminum trim. Coroplast in the bottom and custom made fleece flippers with double thick u-haul pad wrapping another piece of c
