    C&C How to seal leaks?

Thanks for your replies - I knew I couldn't be the only one with this problem. I have a hot glue gun so will use that with the new coroplast tray I make.

    C&C How to seal leaks?

I was changing the fleece liners weekly, but I finally switched to disposable bedding because I couldn't stand the smell with the fleece liners, or the work to get them clean. I don't think I've had as much trouble with the leaking now, but I want to start over, build a new C&C liner and get it...

    C&C How to seal leaks?

So there is no way to seal them? I followed the directions for fleece liners with two layers of uhaul blankets for absorption. They fit well up into each corner and the guinea pigs were not burrowing under them.

    C&C How to seal leaks?

Hi, our two female guinea pigs have a 2x5 C&C cage. I have the habitat set up on a twin sized bed (boxspring on a frame with a headboard and bedskirt, no mattress). I'm pleased with how well it fits and it makes the habitat a nice height, however the guinea pig pee leaks in the corners where the...

Not Eating Been to the vet, now force feeding, now what?

I'm sorry I didn't come back and update this sooner. So 9 days ago I posted that I walked in to find Crystal out and eating her hay like normal. She's been back to normal ever since. It took her weight another day to stabilize, and she's been gaining a little every day. I guess I'll never...

Not Eating Been to the vet, now force feeding, now what?

Went to check on Crystal at 6:30 this morning and found her out of her igloo and munching hay. Meeka immediately came to beg and started running zoomies around their habitat. Such a change. She had been all sad and hovering around Crystal for the last couple of days. Spotted a couple of...

Wood Pellets/Chips Finally trying wood pellets and fleece! First day, first time using!

lol. No I'm not. It's the uhaul pads that soak up the urine and gets stinky quickly and need to be washed. The plastic mesh will not soak up the urine. Whenever the fleece does need to be washed, slip out the plastic mesh and throw it in the bathtub for a rinse. No extra laundry at all...

Wood Pellets/Chips Finally trying wood pellets and fleece! First day, first time using!

That's only true if what I put between was either absorbent or waterproof. Plastic mesh would not absorb the urine, nor would it keep the urine from passing right through it to the pellets. But the plastic mesh could potentially keep the fleece stiff enough to be swept or vacuumed.

Not Eating Been to the vet, now force feeding, now what?

Well I found the AVDC certified vet (piggie dentist). He's working at the most expensive clinic in town. Guess that makes sense. I just made the hole on the syringe twice the size and I'm having the same problem with the mash. The water separates and I end up with a solid chunk of the...

Not Eating Been to the vet, now force feeding, now what?

She had a very thorough exam by a veterinarian who sees guinea pigs, but we did not pay for x-rays or bloodwork at this time. What kind of tooth problems could they find on x-ray that wouldn't show from a visual exam, and what would the solutions be? All I see is elongated roots but don't see...

Not Eating Been to the vet, now force feeding, now what?

I know it doesn't require a prescription, but it said on-line it's only supposed to be able to be purchased through a veterinarian. I called PetSmart and they said they don't carry it anymore. I see it on Amazon but the earliest I could get it is Wednesday. I'll have to keep using our pellet...

Wood Pellets/Chips Finally trying wood pellets and fleece! First day, first time using!

I've been thinking about this same thing as I get ready to convert to pellets. Using fleece with the layers of u-haul pads sewn in makes a thick quilt that stays in place and is fairly easy to sweep. If I just had a single layer of fleece over pellets, that won't be the case. I'm thinking of...

Wood Pellets/Chips How to use pellets in a loft with a ramp

Thank you for the picture! I do understand it would be just a step and not a hurdle. I think it will work just fine, so long as I cut the opening taller. I like how you zip-tied your loft cubes so they fit inside the other cubes and can be set down there lower and the whole loft is...

Not Eating Been to the vet, now force feeding, now what?

Hey guys, so I only just posted about the successful introduction of our neighbor's adult guinea pig Crystal, to our young guinea pig Meeka. We've now had them together for almost two weeks and everything seemed to be going well. Crystal didn't seem to want to bond with Meeka, but seemed to...

Wood Pellets/Chips How to use pellets in a loft with a ramp

Elbatross, I had written a longer response to thank you for the work you did, but then the power blinked out and I lost it all. I can understand your diagrams perfectly, thank you for the time and effort you put in. The ramp is neat, but it's a pain to clean - they poop all over it and the...

So you have a landing of some sort at the top of your ramp?

Introductions Introduced neighbor's adult female to our baby

bpatters, I agree. It went well and I'm thankful, because if it didn't work out my neighbor was going to give Crystal to someone else to keep as a solo pet. CavyChrissy, thank you for telling me about your girls! That's exactly what I was wondering. I suspect it's probably Crystal's...

Wood Pellets/Chips How to use pellets in a loft with a ramp

Hi, this may seem like a silly question, but hopefully I get some helpful responses. Here is Meeka modeling the entry to the kitchen/loft for my piggies: Hopefully you can see that I cut the entry out at floor level. This works fine with a fleece liner, but I can already tell the kitchen gets...

Introductions Introduced neighbor's adult female to our baby

Hi, I introduced myself a few weeks back, explaining we were adopting an adult female guinea pig named Crystal from a neighbor (who was keeping three in a midwestern habitat). We had searched and searched for a young female to be a companion for Crystal before bringing her home, and finally...
