    Bug Guinea Pig Finder

Thanks so much for testing for me! I did check in with the Guinea pig zone Facebook group and they confirmed it was back up and running. I may give them that feedback though that it generally takes a while for the page to load. Thanks again!

    Bug Guinea Pig Finder

Hi, I have not been on this form in a while so apologies if this issue was already known. I believe that Guinea pig finder, the website for people to list pigs, is affiliated with guinea pig cages? If so, whenever I type in the link it’s just simply posting spam. Has the site been hacked, is it...

looking to adopt two females would greatly prefer spayed! columbia,MO

Our adoption fee for a single pig (neutered or spayed) right now is $40; for a pair (neutered and/or spayed) is $75. It does not cover the full cost of the discounted surgery so we close the gap with donations. Our vet's normal spay/neuter cost for pigs is around $130, and he charges us about...

looking to adopt two females would greatly prefer spayed! columbia,MO

Both Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue (in the Washington DC/Virginia area) and Asheville Guinea Pig Rescue (in Hendersonville, North Carolina) do spay guinea pigs. As a member of AGPR, I can tell you we spayed more than 20 females last year without incident. AGPR will have two spayed females...

Bambam & Zuzu, bonded and spayed, mother/daughter at Asheville Guinea Pig Rescue

Adopt this mother/daughter pair from our rescue! They have recovered from their spays in early January and are ready to go. They are funny and adorable. Bambam, the daughter who has white fur, is a big girl with long hair that will need regular grooming. She is about 7 months old and Zuzu is a...

Photos Picture of 4 out 6 piggies

That is cute! How do they get up there--do they just hop up? What are the supports below that are wrapped in fleece? They really do like being elevated even just a little bit, don't they, looking down on the world below.....especially if they feel warm and safe above!

Loss Why Did My Guinea Pig Die?

I had something similar happen with my very first pig when I was very new to this. I took him in when he was three years old. I noticed the weight loss and was planning to take him to the vet when he collapsed on his side at 11:00 one night. He was still conscious, so I rushed him to the animal...

Guinea pig/snake ad on CL -- is anyone in SC looking for a pig?

Thanks all, I was also worried about the stress the guinea pig might be under living in proximity to a snake, but hopefully they will be adopted by two different people.

Guinea pig/snake ad on CL -- is anyone in SC looking for a pig?

Hi, This ad in CL is trying to sell a guinea pig and a snake. I emailed the seller that our NC rescue would take in the pig but haven't heard back -- I suspect he is going to hold out for his fee. If anyone near Greenville SC is already looking for a pig, this would be a good one to get out of...

Sexing First Time Guinea Pig Owner, Bad mistake.

No, it won't. My Houdini, Monkey, and Shaggy Dog, who could be characters in a story book because of their adorable, quirky personalities, have not changed one bit. They are just as curious, inquisitive, funny, and fun-loving as before.

Sexing First Time Guinea Pig Owner, Bad mistake.

I would opt for neutering the male because it sounds like they are quite bonded and that way you won't have to split them up permanently (assuming you have a god vet in your area). After the neuter, the male still has to be separated for about three to four weeks to make sure all sperm have died.

Fleece Anti-pill fleece is on sale for 70% off at Joann's

My last experiences at Joanns haven't been great -- in both cases I ordered fabric online that stayed on the website it was in stock. Four to six days later in each case, I received a form email stating that they were canceling the order because the fabric was not in stock. So, I have switched...

Transport from Wonston Salem to Asheville NC

Anyone traveling from eastern North Caroline to western North Carolina for the holiday weekend, on Saturday Nov. 28? I was contacted by a friend of a friend in Winston Salem who is moving and ran out of options for rehoming his guinea pig. The humane society where he is only takes cats and dogs...

Do babies ever nibble on mom enough to break the skin?

It ended up being three girls and one boy...I separated the male at three weeks, he is now with a spayed female and two other young males, they are a good group and all get along...he will be neutered when he is old enough.

Do babies ever nibble on mom enough to break the skin?

@Soecara, I really apologize for the delay in replying to your last post, I had to deal with bloat in a couple of other pigs (which I will start a different thread for) and Savannah's condition was improving. The vet and I did talk about the nursing pups but on balance the vet felt it was...

Do babies ever nibble on mom enough to break the skin?

Hi, Saw regular vet today who thinks red area was not from babies nibbling or from mom chewing/biting but instead from bacterial pyoderma. Because two new areas have surfaced--one on shoulder and a very small one on ear, she wants to treat systematically with SMZ--of course the problem with...

Do babies ever nibble on mom enough to break the skin?

I *think* I have three girls and a boy, now that it is a week after their birth. Every night I look at each of them, comparing them to the pictures on https://www.cavyspirit.com/sexing.htm. It would be a comical picture of me doing that except I know how important it is to get that right. Of...

Do babies ever nibble on mom enough to break the skin?

Thanks for your replies, I appreciate it! I didn't want to wait until Monday to get her seen, so I took to her to the emergency animal hospital because they had a vet on duty who is experienced with exotics (I called ahead to verify, and I have seen her before). She did not think it was...
