    Photos It's 23.5 degrees today....

It is what us British do best. Snow?? What that white stuff of even when there is the tiniest dusting the country grounds to a halt @Princess_Piggie. My girls are loving the wrapped ice packs they've had this week. I come home from work to find them lying on top of it bless them.

    Photos It's 23.5 degrees today....

Well it was 27 degrees celsius yesterday and I found one of pigs had decided to mole (as we call it) ie burrow under the fleece. I was like Ruby you are stupid its crazy hot and you want to be wrapped up like a burrito. Got to love British summer times we do always sound like an old women we...

Sounds Can you tell your pigs voices apart?

I can tell my two girls apart when they wheek. Ruby's wheeking pitch is a few notes higher *sometimes we think she's going to go supersonic and wheek so high we can't actually hear it* than Patch's. Also we can tell which one it is when they are doing zoomies without looking at who it is.

    mouse control options

When I had mice in my shed I did research into ways of getting rid without calling an exterminator and all the reviews in the UK for the HF sound emitters were that they didn't really work. Instead as my other half has had cats his whole life we went with back breakers and he dealt with them. We...

Behavior Sudden fighting with 2 two year old female pigs

My two girls (about 15 months old) were awful the other day rumbling, chasing each other round and squeaking. I have never known anything like it but we think annoyingly their cycles have matched up now they weigh approx the same as the next day they were both perfectly fine with each other.

Keeping Cool Hot hot hot!! Best place for piggies in Summer?

Last year when we had that week of nearly 30C temps I had a fan set up with a bottle close to it as a make shift air con with a cooling mat from Pets at Home and a load of 500ml frozen drinks bottles which I refroze everynight wrapped in fleece or a tea towel so they didn't get frosted from...

Bathing Nasty bites - Not from Piggies! Any advice for me?

They look more like hives than bites. I get them if one of my girls scratches my arm as I have hayfever and I believe that when they scratch me the hay dust on them can get into my skin. I can get rid of them by using anti histamine cream. I don't think I have ever heard of a piggy catching...

URI/Upper Respiratory Infection Poorly piggy, what vet to use and insurance UK

I am from the UK but unfortunately not from your neck of the woods. I haven't actually looked at insurance for my two as I have a savings account instead. Have you thought about doing that instead. One of my girls had one snotty sneeze last year which turned out to be a URI from inhaling bath...

Rabbits Oreo decided to pick a fight with a Snuggie

Aww how lovely, pigs will poop where ever they like. I made them a lovely cuddle sack thing but I don't give it to them anymore as they spend one day with it and its soaked through silly piggies. May I ask why you are getting her spayed?

    Pregnancy Pregnant? (Young guinea pig)

When my two girls get "mounty" during their cycles they occassionally spray urine at each other. I have to wipe down the radiator on a regular basis as it escapes from their cage. The woes of being a piggie mum

    Weight Guinea Pig Weight

My two girls who are 14months old weight approximately 1kg. As long as you are weighing them regularly and they aren't losing weight then there is nothing to worry about.

    Do me a favour?

Good luck, fingers crossed for you and two sets of piggie toes crossed. Me and my sister would love to open a bakery as we both really enjoy baking both sweets and savouries and giving up the day jobs but its the capital needed and there are so many bakeries around here it would be pointless...

About time I joined in on the fun!! :)

Aww how adorable. Welcome to the forum. @Princess_Piggie when I bathed my girls I blow dried them. However, we had them surrounded by towels and I was about 4ft away from them with the hair dryer on low. One so the noise didn't scare them and two so that I wasn't putting too much heat on them.

    Behavior Licking

One of my girls Patch, is a licker. She will lick often, she's even caught my OH unawares and got him on the end of the nose haha. We take it as a sign of affection, as normally after she's finished licking she will settle down for a cuddle and that's it. Whereas, Ruby will only lick/nibble if...

I've never had an issue with the round leaf at all

Nutrition Is romaine too high in calcium?

Being a fellow forum user from the UK I get my lettuce from Tesco as they stock a round leaf lettuce as my pigs have the white wee issue with romaine. It does mean a separate trup to a different supermarket for it but I would rather they still got to have lettucce. Plus its grown in the UK which...

    Weight The dwarf Guinea Pig.

My two girls weigh between 825-850g (1lb 13oz - 1lb 14oz) at a year old which is within the perfectly normal range for sows

    Liners Zorb in the uk??

I have been trying to find an alternative to towels for ages but cannot seem to find anything like uhaul or zorb. If you find anything you will have to let us fellow Brits know.

Joy Share your funny piggert stories!

My funiest story is one day I came home to find that Ruby had gone missing. After panicing, I suddenly I saw what appeared to be like a cartoon mole mound moving around the cage as Ruby had managed to pull down the fleece and get under it and appeared to be having great fun terrorising Patch by...

Nutrition New to GPs, checking in with the pros before I get my girls!

Hi, when I got my two piggies I just fed them on Timothy hay and normal adult pellets with the veggies too, partially as we were not sure on their actual ages (they were approx 8 weeks when we got them apparently but I believe they were younger) they have been absolutely fine and grown well.
