Update: The flies are unbearable at the moment, cleaning the cage seems to not be as effective as before. Any one have any tips on fixing a leaking water bottle?

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

I do have to say that I did do one of the drain suggestions which was 1 cup of vinegar, 1/2 cup of salt and baking soda for the bathtub and they still go in there but it’s only 2-4 at a time. For me the hatching seems to take a day or less, when they were gone that one week it was pretty...

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

All good, I did call to find out if someone could come out to check and they wanted money for that. You’d think that cleaning the cage everyday would’ve kept them out (which did the first week) and then for all of them to come back into the cage. I cleaned last night and the population doubled...

Update: So I wanted to do a little update on the situation, I’ve been cleaning the cage and now they’re back into the cage which I’m not sure why. They’re out of the kitchen and other rooms.

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

There is cut up fruit in the kitchen but it’s across from where they’re hanging around. The cabinets they’re hanging around is next to the sink so I’ll look into that. Also when I was looking up the type of fly that was the one that resembled it the most, again thank you

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

Update: Hello, just wanted to update the situation. The flies are now out of my room, they were in the bathroom but I found the issue to that. Though sadly they’re in the kitchen, not sure why but they’re lingering around. They just sit on the cabinet doors and don’t move.

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

I hope so as well, the apple cider vinager thing worked a bit but the flies stopped after a week of it. I even got those little apple fly traps which nothing. Nothing left to say then that there were laurve in the cage when I cleaned but it was only 2 with some baby flies which are all in the...

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

I’m happy to say there were only 2 flies in my room when I got up, i wouldn’t doubt if there is some of their droppings in the other rooms which I’ll have to check, if anything I’ll just vacuum each and every room. I am currently cleaning the cage and will update again tomorrow about the...

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

Again, that was only 4 days of not cleaning because I was busy with fly swatting. Yes at the end of the day it falls on me but I do not usually let it go that for. The cage is now clean and I am currently cleaning it out once again.

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

Any tips for what I should do outside my room? They’re currently invading the kitchen and eating my moms cupcakes (even when covered).

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

I believe they’re the same but I’ve never seen larvae in the cage before when I was cleaning until now. The larvae inside the cage was discarded into the trash (outside). To my suspicion it was probably from the house flies since they’ve been snooping in the cage lately. First for everything...

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

I swear it’s only been 4 days of not cleaning the cage and this happens, can someone try and explain how this happened??? Big flies recently got into the house and have been in the cage so I’m wondering if it was them. Also I just got done cleaning and they’re back in the cage, I am not sure...

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

Idk if you guys can see all the fly dump on my closet doors, I’ve been trying to clean it off and it’s like as if it’s imbedded into the doors also the jar for those who are curious is just some fruit and banana peels that the flies love, it did something but not much lmfao

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

Honestly; I had fleece but it was super thin so I think it was a fleece liner but I had to throw it out cause my Guinea pigs were here chewing on it lmao. I’m using wood shavings (one seen in stores) and it’s very absorbent. I’m trying to get them fleece but it’s difficult as I don’t recall what...

Frustrated Fruit flies coming from Guinea pig droppings?

I will definitely try this; I was thinking of doing a pine and cedar mix but before anything I’ll try that. I swear if this works it would be a miracle; it’s just tough to walk into my room and be greeted with 20-40 flies in my face. Including here having them in food/drinks. Thank you for the...
