    benebac

I am reading posts furiously about soft poop and will try the healthy pig poop "cocktail" I also want to get benebac or acidophilus. Can I purchase "real" benebac from a pet store or is it only via a vet? I don't trust much that you can buy at a pet store...

Help-Soft poop in new rescued pig

Hi, My newest resuce (last Friday) had very soft and smelly poop. It came out in a formation of sorts but instantly would mush. It smelled awful and was lighter in color. I took her to the vet and he did a fecal smear and gave her albon. He took her temp and listened to her chest to rule out...

I want to do this right

Hi Gretchen, I too am new to piggies and a mom. I see your name says you are in CA? Where abouts are you? If you live in Southern CA there is a rescue that will let you bring your piggy to "date" one of thiers that they have rescued from a local shelter. They are the Bunny Bunch in Montclair...

    We love piggies!

"harem" is correct! He walks around purring and swaying his rump. My husband calls it the "swagger". Cassanova is the perfect name...he loves his piggy girls but also is a total lap pig too. He actually licks me! Feels so funny!

    Cage question

I have been browsing the photos and noticed a few people put the cage down on towels and fleece without any coroplast box. I have my pigs in a tiled room...so there would not be any carpet to worry about...is it safe to have them on the floor with just fleece bedding and grid cage around them or...

    Hay rack

Best of luck to your Sox...since the Yanks are out...I grew up in Danbury but live in CA now...where abouts in CT are you? It seems most of the piggy posts are from the east coast. Guess I need to get back there to fit in! Thanks again for the tissue roll tip...I give them to my gerbils to...

    Hay rack

Thanks for this tip. I actually have the hay ball hooked in the cage, but it seems like it may be hard to actually get the hay out. I will try a toilet tissue tube. Where can I get me some NY Yankee fleece? ;;)

    Guinea pig nervous?

I have 3 rescued piggies. 2 sit on my lap for about 1/2 hour each. The 3rd pees on me after about 5 minutes. Is she nervous or is this a problem?

    Red feet

Hi, I am sorry if this is a lame question but I have to ask. I rescued 3 pigs over the past couple of months. The first 2 are darker and have dark feet. The 3rd is white and her feet look very pink, almost red. Is this normal? Again, sorry if this is a totally lame question but I am new to...

    Fleece problem

No fabric softener used...even the drips from the water bottle sit on the surface. I guess I will wash and dry a few more times and see. They do like it more than aspen though...

    Fleece problem

Hi, I bought my fleece and washed and dried it 3 times. (hot water) However, it is not wicking the pee away very quickly. It sits on the surface for a bit first. Since my pigs go where they please (unlucky me) I need it to work well. Any suggestions?

    We love piggies!

Hello, We adopted out first pig (Truffles)from a rescue in July. She was older and died 6 weeks later. I held her on my chest at 2am while she passed. I could not believe I was so attached already. My vet said it was organ failure. We had adopted her a very young friend (Guinness)as well who was...

    Rescued Pig Pregnant?

Thanks for posting. Today she is more tolerant of belly touching. I hope that means no babies. She was quarantined (3 weeks)at the rescue before they put her up on their site. They also routinely treat for mites. Today, when we came home she squealed for about 5 minutes. So she is just more...

    Rescued Pig Pregnant?

Hello, I just rescued my third pig. (They are like potato chips, can't have just one). I have a lot of experience with many animals (dogs, rabbits, hamsters, frogs, gerbils) but am new to guiniea pigs. My new pig does not like her belly to be touched at all and drinks a lot. I am getting more...
