    Drying a Cavy

I've just tonight bathed Pablo for the first time and he went mad when we turned the hair dryer on. We've towel dried him as much as we can and hes pretty dry now but I was wondering if he would get used to it over time? or if anyone has had any experience in this? I was thinking maybe I could...

    crusty hamster

We treated him as he was scratching quite a bit and as soon as we did, he stopped so I'm guessing it worked and luckily it seems to have had no adverse affects on him. We used the beaphar spot on treatment which has ivermectin in and is done according to weight. We use the guinea pig version...

    I feel so guilty!!

We have plenty of space and (by me accidentally ordering two boxes of cubes instead of one) plenty of cubes to make a bigger cage. I was going to extend the boys cage to a 3x4 anyway so i could make it a 3x5 which would be big enough for three. See thats the only thing thats putting me off...

    I feel so guilty!!

While I was looking for a friend for Pablo we found Toby, a 2yr old male in a resuce centre about an hour and a half away. We were considering getting him and were in contact with the rescue centre about setting up a home visit but then we found Stanley, who was a lot closer to us and therefore...

    crusty hamster

Ooh I didnt know that they spot on treatments were dangerous. What else would you use on a hamster? The crusty patch seems to have cleared up now so I dont know what it was. I'll keep watch to see if it comes back, if it does then straight to the vet.

    crusty hamster

Ok so I know this isnt about a cage but I'll ask here anyway as all the hamster sites I've found seem..well a bit childish to be honest Anyway, My 9 month old male syrian seems to have a little crusty patch next to one of his glands on his side. I've had many hamsters before and have never...

    Stanley escaped

Well we got up this morning and looked in Stanleys cage and he wasnt there!! I was running round panicking until my boyfriend walked in and found him under the fleece in his cage so now we've had to go out and buy new fleece which is big enough to clip over the edges so he cant get under it...

    Stanley escaped

Well we've raised the sides and put a lid on now, I've also put his cozies under where he climbs the most, in case he does fall. Apart from making the whole side covered if you know what I mean, I dont see what else we can do. Hopefully he'll calm down a bit when hes introduced to Pablo in two...

    Stanley escaped

Poor Pablos had to sacrfice his second level to make a lid for Stanleys cage, at least until they can go in together in two weeks. Pablo never did anything like that, I didnt think guinea pigs culd climb vertically...

Well is may not be too 'funky' but I bought a fleece big enough for a 3X4 in poundstretcher. Its red and got a cartoon dog on but it was only 2.99 so a bargain really. I'm also looking on ebay, if you look for the ones that are being bid on, not the buy it now ones then you can get some really...

    Igloo trouble

Ah Flat Stanley is being quarantined as we speak! Got him through an ad in the paper last weekend so in two and a half weeks they can be introduced. My igloo problems have been solved. I've taken the two halves apart so he now uses the bottom part as his toilet and the top half has been turned...
