    Not Eating Misko's Medical Thread

Thank you all for your support. Misko has passed away yesterday evening. We are heartbroken. Life makes no sense for us currently. He was just over 4 years and had the nicest, kindest personality. It hurts even more because we sent him for the benign lump removal surgery. Lump was huge, but...

    Not Eating Misko's Medical Thread

Sorry for not replying to you MerryFriarTuck , we are going through a nightmare. We are losing Misko, he is fading away. I've never cried as much as today. Sunday evening he had floor time, he was active, running around, asking for treats, eating hay. He seemed great. During the last week we...

Not Eating Friar Tuck's medical thread

Hi, I just read your thread and I hope your little guy is doing better. Looks like we are dealing with something similar. Our Misko is on critical care for a month now (feeding him every 3-4 hours), and also almost did not eat at all. Interested only in veggies, very little hay or pellets. All...

    Not Eating Misko's Medical Thread

I was able to get ahold of few more bags. 2 vets in a nearby city had some in stock. But something is definitely happening, so I am stocking up. Our vet might get some more, she always seems to get it somehow. I'm just playing it safe, cos how things are going Misko will need it for a while

    Not Eating Misko's Medical Thread

You were right bpatters. We didn't feed him enough CC. We changed to 25cc every 3 hours and now he is steady around 1100 grams. He always ate and pooped twice as much compared to our other piggy. Maybe he just needs more. In a few days it is going to be a month of force feeding critical care...

    Not Eating Misko's Medical Thread

He is getting at least 100 cc per day and eats a bit of hay and pellets himself, but I guess we will have to go higher and even more often and start measuring in cc's. Every feeding he would get 1 tablespoon of critical care, which would be 20-25 1ml syringes depending how thick we make it. When...

    Not Eating Misko's Medical Thread

Thank you bpatters. We will keep him off the veggies. I am puzzled at what is happening now, we feed him critical care every 4 hours or so at a full dose and he still just lost 50g overnight and keeps losing?! He poops like all the time now and there is almost a 100 of his poops in the cage...

Re: Fresh Dropping of Healthy Guinea Pig as a Probiotic Admin, can this thread please be renamed to Misko's Medical Thread? I will provide update, as lots of things happened and we almost lost Misko. After my last post a week ago, his condition changed and he again completely refused to eat /...

    Not Eating Misko's Medical Thread

Re: Fresh Dropping of Healthy Guinea Pig as a Probiotic Sorry for a late reply. Honestly I was just too tired to even start up my laptop. Our other guinea pig got sick as well, so we had to force feed both of them. Misko is finally doing a bit better. For a few days, we were getting nowhere so...

    Not Eating Misko's Medical Thread

Re: Fresh Dropping of Healthy Guinea Pig as a Probiotic Yes we stopped the antibiotic on Sunday. Today is Thursday and he is not eating any food :( He started to eat a bit yesterday after Metacam dose, but today again nothing. I will be calling his vet again

    Not Eating Misko's Medical Thread

Re: Fresh Dropping of Healthy Guinea Pig as a Probiotic Thanks for your support. It is so hard watching him not moving, eating and depressed. He is just ready to die. Antibiotic just hit him really hard after the last dose, he got diarrhea instantly and since then he refuses to eat. I hope...

    Not Eating Misko's Medical Thread

Re: Fresh Dropping of Healthy Guinea Pig as a Probiotic Thanks. I will try doing massage. I just downloaded an vibration app on my phone, will try folding the phone in the towel and placing little guy on it. That's the only vibration thingy I have atm. He is absolutely not touching any food...

    Not Eating Misko's Medical Thread

Re: Fresh Dropping of Healthy Guinea Pig as a Probiotic Thank you both for a reply. Little one is not doing too good, so we took him back to see his vet. Looks like he has problems with his tummy and he is quite bloated, so that might be the major problem right now. Both his incisions look...

    Not Eating Misko's Medical Thread

Hi all, one of our guinea pigs had a surgery recently and after being on Baytril he developed diarrhea and is refusing to eat anything. Currently we have him on Critical Care every few hours, and his poops started to get shape, although still very soft. He is not on antibiotics anymore. We...

    Hay Brome Grass Hay

I am located in Canada and lots of farmers around here sell Brome Grass Hay. $8 a 50lb bale and similar. I figured out they feed that to horses. Have anybody heard about it or is it suitable for guinea pigs? I couldn't find Timothy, Orchard or something that is familiar to me.

Lethargy Guinea Pig not eating and lethargic

Well the thing is, he is not lethargic at all. This "episodes" last for half hour every few weeks. Before this episode and after he is completely normal. Like nothing happened. He is very active piggy, always walking around, bugging his cage mate, eating, drinking and asking for treats. He is...
