Hello! I have had Norman, who is about fully grown, for about a year now. Recently, I got another guinea pig, Gus Gus. He is a lot smaller than Norman. They seemed to be getting along fine, other than the occasional food nabbing. Today they got into their first fight. Norman has a piece of his ear bitten off and another bite mark, and he was bleeding. What do I do? Do they need to be separated permanently? PLEASE HELO !!

If blood has been drawn, separate immediately. They need to be apart for awhile, but all is not lost. Not yet.

Once they have been separated ( a few weeks should be enough, but longer may be necessary.) you may attempt a reintroduction. Make sure their wounds have healed.

Did you follow the recommended steps to introducing them when they first got together? If not, you need to strictly follow the recommendations to have any hope of another reintroduction being successful. You can find the best guide to an introduction here :

How long have they been together? What's the cage size? Gusgus's age?
