our latest settle - Guinea Pig Cages

I would like to build a cage similar to this, but I have a question for you. I noticed that your cage is on the floor, and that is the way I would like to make mine as well. Do you use anything, like towels, under the fleece in case of 'potty accidents'? I have a couple of ideas, but I would love to hear some suggestions! Thanks!

What's under our cage are some pieces of wood taken from a closet that we do not use. The pieces just as long as the cage is, and they are around 2 centimetres thick. This protects the carpet.

On those woods I put 2 or more layers of newspaper, I put more layers in the places where the pigs chill out the most, as I know they potty there more than in other areas. On the newspaper I put 2 layers of towels and finally 1 layer of fleece. And it works perfect!
