Introductions Add a third to make it a herd?

Gandalf came with his name - he's got a grey back, so I figure they thought he looked like he was wearing a cloak, thus Gandalf the Grey. Gilly came to us as Sophie, but we changed it to match the theme with Gandalf, since yes, we are Tolkien fans.

Introductions Add a third to make it a herd?

We decided to keep it as just two. They're settling in nicely and we don't want to disturb that process. We may reconsider in a few months.

    General bowls and Bowl sizes

I put a bowl on my kitchen scale, then put the pigs in the bowl. :)

Fleece Flippers, liners or fleece/binder clips? What is your preference and why?

I put down one very old thin towel first then the flipper pads. The only reason for the towel is to catch anything that slips between the pads before it gets to the coroplast.

Fleece Flippers, liners or fleece/binder clips? What is your preference and why?

I tried flippers, but I found when I washed it the uhaul pads really let off a lot of lint, so I had to wash the fleece separate from the pads. I lasted about three weeks before I just decided to put the flippers together without the coroplast insert and then sew them closed. I then sewed them...

Introductions Add a third to make it a herd?

Hi everyone, My guinea pig, Bear, passed away several years ago. Finally in February my fiancée and I adopted two New Guinea pigs!! It has been very exciting to come home to the sounds of wheeking again. The new pigs are Gandalf (neutered male, born July 2013) and Gilly (female, born July...

What to grow in the garden this year?

Be really careful with growing mint! It grows like wildfire and soon becomes a weed, grows through the rest of your garden. I have experience with this. The best way to keep it in check is to plant it in a planter box, or plant it in a bucket, then bury the bucket in the ground. I've tried both...

    Need a friend or advice...

I can't fit a 2x4 because it would be too long for the space, but a 3x3 would be fine. I guess i'll have to go back to home depot and get some more coroplast to make it a 3x3! My boyfriend is moving in next week, he's been away for a year, so he hasn't met Bear yet. Hopefully he'll like him...

    Need a friend or advice...

I was just thinking actually that i probably have room to make the cage 3x3, and that would bring me back up to the 10.5 that i used to have, actually i think technically it would be bigger than that in square footage.

    Need a friend or advice...

Yeah, Bear was from the Newmarket SPCA. He's doing really well. He weeks as soon as i get up in the morning, and if i rustle any bags. He's closer to the kitchen in my new apartment, so he's starting to learn to week at the sound of the fridge door opening. Unfortunately the cage is currently...

    Need a friend or advice...

Hi Everyone, I got my piggy, Bear, in November and was lurking around for a while. My initial idea was that i wanted a friend for Bear as i knew that was the right thing to do. However, when i got him at the OSPCA they said that he didn't get along with other pigs. I couldn't figure out a way...

Also looking to get a friend...

I think they must have tried my piggy with others at the HS, because he was actually an abandoned piggy. The previous owners left him in their apartment when they moved, poor little guy. So they don't have any info on his past. I don't know how anyone could just leave a piggy behind, he's so...

Also looking to get a friend...

He has pretty hard pads on his feet, so i think maybe he was kept on a wire bottomed cage before i got him, which probably means it was small

Also looking to get a friend...

I think i am pretty far from Indiana. I can make the cage larger by adding another storey to part of it, but i can't really increase the bottom main floor size. Its as big as my room will fit! Any ideas on how to find a new piggy i can try out with my piggy first with?
