    Cute guinea pig does trick!

Injury PET MOUSE INJURY - Any Ideas?

No, he was kept alone. His wheel is plastic, and I don't think there is anything he could have got caught on. I'll double check though. Before bed last night I saw him drinking some water, even though he wasn't being active, and that sparked some hope. I gave him extra tissue paper to sleep in...

Injury PET MOUSE INJURY - Any Ideas?

Hello all, I recognise that this forum is guinea-pig oriented, but I wanted to see if any of you have experienced this with a pet mouse before. I tried searching on the internet, but couldn't really find much. A few days ago, my mouse was fine and appeared healthy. Today, I took him out of...

Hair Loss Hair Loss Around Eye

Anyone else? Is this something serious or should I wait to see if she gets any other symptoms? She's squinting this eye a bit as well... I think I'll call the vet up now.

Here are some pics of her gooey eyelids:

Hair Loss Hair Loss Around Eye

She doesn't have hair loss anywhere else. It's only around this eye. I've also noticed that her eyelids are a bit sticky and there is dried white discharge (which could just be the cleaning fluid). I just want to make sure there is actually something wrong with her before I go to the vet. I...

Hair Loss Hair Loss Around Eye

Hello, I noticed today that my guinea pig Mocha has some hair loss around her right eye. I have already treated all three of my piggies with iverrmectin, so I think I can rule out mites. Do you think it's fungal? If it is, I'll be taking her into the vet tomorrow. I've also noticed she has been...

General Wanting a 3rd Guinea, any help

A 2 by 5 should be good for three female guinea pigs, but keep in mind that bigger is better. This page has the cage size standards: https://www.guineapigcages.com/. Here is a craigslist posting in your area for a female guinea pig being re-homed: (broken link removed)

Fur My guinea is losing a lot of hair?

Have you treated your guinea pig for mites and/or lice? Has she been scratching a lot? If she has been treated and/or there is no excessive scratching, it could simply be shedding. Do you brush her hair often? This would help decrease the shedding.

    Storage Bedding Getting into Food

Is your whole cage bedding? I used to have the same problem, so I ended up placing the pellet and veggie dishes in the fleece area. I only put bedding in the hay area.

    General Essential oil room spray

They cost $7.95 each. Here's the link: https://www.uhaul.com/MovingSupplies/Protective-stuff/Furniture-Pad?id=2670 You don't need a layer of towels with the uhaul pads. I have a 2 by 6 cc cage, and one uhaul pad folded in half (so, two layers) approximately fits the whole base (the pads vary...

    General Essential oil room spray

I've heard that using towels under the fleece stinks faster than using uhaul pads. Uhaul pads may help decrease the smell. Also, you don't need two layers of fleece. This may make it more difficult for the fleece to wick since the urine has to pass through an extra layer.

    General Essential oil room spray

Small animals lungs, including those of rodents and birds, are very small. They can get serious respiratory issues if the air they are breathing is filled with chemicals from things like perfumes or scents in the air. It even cautions on the back of Febreze cans to not spray them around birds...

    Fleece Washing problem!

You can mix the vinegar and detergent together, or put them in the washer separately. As for the hair issue, what I do is vacuum out the inside of the washing machine before using it for human laundry. This removes any hair or hay that was still stuck on the fleece and is now on the walls of the...

Bedding What do you think about this brand of bedding?

Why don't you use carefresh? The national geographic bedding is more expensive. It is $17.59 (with a regular price of $21.99) for a 25L bag of the national geographic bedding, whereas it is only $21.99 for a 60L bag of the carefresh.
