I'm kind of late to the party but I think wood pellets are amazing. Like bpatters said they last a really long time with no smell whatsoever. I get mine at Tractor Supply or Home Depot. I use them in my cage and litterbox, with fleece on top in the cage, and the only smell comes from the hay...
I use a C&C cage with an upper loft, and currently have fleece with Uhaul underneath. Just wondering what you use? My girl spends a lot of time up there so it gets soiled rather quickly. Thank you!
I have a piggy with almost the same situation, no stones on Xray, seemed to clear up after 2 rounds of SMZ, still ocassionally whimpers when pooing but not loudly, eats, drinks as normal, no change in activity level. Seems to excrete extra calcium as evidenced by chalky white spots on fleece.
Just an update, Pumpkin finished a 10 day regimen of Bactrim, and it seems to have cleared up. She still makes a tiny noise sometimes when she poops, but no blood and no change in eating or activity. Thank you for the advice.

Hi, Just took my piggy to the vet yesterday because she was hunching up and whimpering a bit when pooing. Xrays were taken and no stones, and she is eating and drinking normally, happily stuffing her face with hay. Now she is fine. This happened in January also. Any ideas? I wonder if her water...
I may have been misinformed, I was told by another group that if a rehoming fee is asked for, it is not against the rules. I am still firmly against it, but I do want to have the correct information. Does anyone know for sure?
Hi! I have used fleece over wood pellets and wood pellets in the litterbox and love the combo. There is no smell for months, except for soiled hay which I remove nightly. A nightly quick brush with a small broom into a dustpan takes care of the poops, and if the GP pees in one spot you can put a...
It is actually against the rules on CL to sell animals so you can flag the post and it will be removed. I think that is the best way to react. Just my opinion, although I applaud your reaching out.
