    Quarantine Broke Quarantine

It's actually very common for a new pig to behave that way, as in not moving or touching their food or water. They're almost always frightened to be in a new environment, with their entire life suddenly changed. They don't know that they're in their new home where they will stay, just that...

    Chat Frustration: Witnessed Dog Abuse

Police are useless in these situations. Unless you have absolute rock-solid proof, they won't do a damned thing. Even then, most of them are too lazy and/or apathetic to be of any real assistance. Your best bet is exactly what you did, contact the shelter and let someone who actually cares deal...

Injury Piggie's head got crushed under knee

I'm glad your piggie is doing well. I'm kind of disappointed that the first response to your post basically ordered you to surrender your animals, but you have to understand that the words "crushed under knee" are likely to elicit emotional responses. Seems that you and perhaps others have...

    Behavior Sleeping with guinea pig

That's a nice thought and you're a great owner for even considering it, but no. You would need food and hay for the pig, it would relieve itself everywhere...not to mention the safety hazards! The best thing to do is get him a friend, but maybe try a nightlight in the meantime?

Lethargy Please help.. Lethargic guinea pig..

Very sorry for your loss. It doesn't seem that there was much you could have done, but at least you were there to comfort them.

    Diet Is my piggie obese?

He doesn't sound obese at all. Like bpatters said, it's not a bad thing for them to have some extra heft anyway. I wouldn't worry :)

    General Pros and cons?

Yes, very true. My guys are definitely more receptive to it than most. They act more like puppies than guinea pigs sometimes! Interestingly, they like being picked up out of their cage, but not so much when they are out for floor time. I guess that means they just really like their floor time...

    General Pros and cons?

Have to respectfully disagree with the "They will never like being picked up" point. My guy Dash will climb up my arm and wait for me to secure him with the other hand for pets. Mo doesn't go that far, but will slightly lift his midsection up so I can scoop him up. Though, it did take weeks of...

    Weight Not eating new pellets?

bpatters, I'm just curious - what do you use to replace the pellets in your pigs' diet? Do you just give more hay and veggies, or is there something else you use?

Maximus is adorable :) Looks like he's guarding the piggie cage!

Sick Something is wrong with my pig

I'll leave the medical advice to those more experienced than myself, but I've been following this thread and wanted to send along my best wishes for you and your pig. Only advice I'd have for you is not to be afraid of being a bit forceful with the vet(s) if you feel she needs attention sooner...

    Behavior Won't eat carrots?

Mine aren't crazy about chin scratches either, but they love their heads pet. Dash will practically leap into my arms to sit and be adored lol
