Ok I'm despearte people!! Oliver is down to 592 grams!! He's dying from this stupid weight loss and I can't figure out what to do for him! I just don't know what to do please help if anyone can think of even the smallest thing that I can try I will try it. He started out at 916 grams...his...
Hmmm that is really strange... I'm sorry, I have no idea why he would be doing that. If he's acting normally in all other ways I wouldn't be super worried, but it's good you're taking him to the vet just in case :)
My piggies go all kinds of crazy in their pigloos...they throw them all over the place! Is your piggy young or did you just get this pigloo? In other words is the pigloo a new experience for him or has he had a pigloo for some time and now just started this head nodding and bobbing??
@Soecara I think I'm going to try the "poop soup", thank you for the link. I was also confused about the drying out of the poop but when I tried to clarify with the vet why I would dry it out he just said it would be easier to break up and sprinkle on the food that way. I have critical care...
@Agrimony Oliver is about 3 years old. The vet was brainstorming a bit and said that he thinks possibly because of all the antibiotics that the bacteria in Oliver's gut have been killed off and so now he isn't able to get all the nutrients he needs from his food. The vet thinks I should dry...
@Agrimony My Oliver also was kind of grumpy with other pigs prior to his surgery and now he refuses to tolerate them at all. He especially doesn't like Pammy Jo my female who is about his size; he will tolerate the baby Carmella for a short period of time before he starts teeth chattering at...
@Agrimony Thank you!! I will get a little scale and track his weight like you said. I figure it would be slow coming back; it worries me with how bony he is. I was using pumpkin for him when I had to do the critical care so maybe I'll buy another can and mix in the rest of the critical care...
I did that, but wasn't sure if people could see it as a new post so that's when I made the new one. Sorry again! I'll make sure to just do posts on my old threads from here on out :)
Continuation to the "piggy not eating after surgery" saga....
Hi everyone!
Just as a quick background for anyone who doesn't know Oliver's story...
I was away for a couple days and my piggies were left in my roommate's care. When I returned my male piggy, Oliver, had a very swollen eyeball...
Hi everyone!
Thanks again for all the good thoughts and well wishes :) Oliver is still improving daily. He's soooo much better! His eye (or eye socket I guess lol) is nearly healed, I'll put up a picture when I get home.
He still isn't getting along with my other little girl piggy but...
Thank you to everyone for all your encouraging words. Oliver was pretty sick on Friday night again so I took him in to the vet on Saturday morning. He was started on on a second antibiotic and a new pain med. We chose not to go with bupropion as it was making Oliver very groggy and then he...
@Melissa123 His belly doesn't seem bloated to me, but I've never dealt with bloat before. I noticed his belly is finally filling out a little compared to the past couple days that he's been so skinny but I don't know if that means he's bloated?? Where in the world do you get a vibrating pillow...
@bpatters Thank you so much for the great information! That article was so helpful for me. I think I wasn't feeding frequently enough...I was only giving him 5cc 3 times per day. After work yesterday I started feeding every couple hours, I tried mixing in my healthy pigs poop with his food...
