    Hocus passed away

Thanks. I had others question the vet’s diagnosis, but she is quite experienced. I keep asking myself if I missed some sign, but Hocus hid the illness so well. Or maybe the cancer spread so fast. My teenager is especially angry. Hocus and Pocus were his first pets. He says he never wants...

    Hocus passed away

Last weekend, Hocus began to make whimpering sounds. Took me a day to figure out she was crying every time she peed. A visit to the cavy savy vet was in order. She was still eating and drinking, albeit a bit slower than usual. Appointment was Thursday. Vet ordered an x ray and urine tests...

Urine Hocus has a bladder stone

Thank you for the feedback about the stone attaching to the bladder wall. I need to ask the vet about that.

Urine Hocus has a bladder stone

Two weeks ago, I realized one of our GPs was peeing blood. Isolated one in the travel carrier to confirm. Hocus freaked out and chewed on the bars, breaking both top incisors. Rushed to emergency vet who gave her pain meds and fluids that night. Fed her mashed pellets to keep her going...

UTI/Urinary Tract Infection Possible UTI, what can I expect at the vet?

Hocus, my 2.5 year old female, might have a UTI or stones. The white fur around her butt appears stained yellow/brown. Activity level normal. Eating, drinking and pooping as usual. Watched her pee and saw a stream followed by drips/dribbles. She has a vet appointment tomorrow morning. What...

    Vegetables Pepper Seeds

Can guinea pigs safely eat the seeds in bell peppers, or should I remove them before serving?

    Chat Need Handling Tips

I highly recommend gently shooing them into a cozy sack for transporting or holding. My guinea pigs can get very excited and their little legs will kick. After some painful scratches on my arms, I rarely carry them without a blanket or something.

    Fleece Rescues using fleece flippers

I use fleece/uhaul liners. The flippers turned out to be a bit more work for me.

    Chat Where are you from?

My piggies drink bottled water after last summer's aquapocalypse.

    Chewing Is broom corn safe?

I was sweeping out the girls cage, and they got so excited as they chased the whisk broom to chew. This reminded me that there are natural brooms made of broom corn. Would it be safe to hang one in the cage for them to chew?

Joy Thinking about buying a piggie cam, do others have recommendations?

Purely for amusement, I'm considering the purchase of a camera to view my guinea pigs when we are away from home. I want to view from PC or iPad. For those of you with a camera, what brand/model do you recommend? What features should I look for? Thanks for the feedback!

Cyst Possible cyst or lump on back

**Sigh**. Perhaps I need to find a different vet. Any recommendations for exotic vets around Toledo, Ohio?
