Just wondering, does he get any hay in his diet? Also, I think fruit is more of a treat food and they don't necessarily need it in their diet.. but I am not 100% sure on this.

Guinea Pigs only sleep in 15 or so minute bursts throughout the day.. and sleep roughly 4 hours total a day. I do not think your idea is really going to work, can't you just make a lid on the C&C??

Only one of my females chirps, and I've only heard her do it once. I had the ladies in the kitchen while I was cleaning out their cage, and heard one of them chirping. It ended up being Rowan, one of my texel sisters, and I have no idea why she was doing it... then again, we haven't figured out...

Thanks ferndale - I actually went to home depot yesterday to check it out in person and they are definitely not suited for chinnies.

Where are you located in FL ? There's a few cavy rescues around the state. One is in Sarasota, one is in Palm Bay, and another in Ft. Lauderdale. I'm sure there are others, but those three are the only ones I can think off the top of my head :)

I have some pigs who do not wheek/talk much at all, while others are extremely vocal. Also you mentioned he is more scared than Gizmo.. I have found my more chatty pigs are less scared :) I think it's just a personality thing.
