You can put neosporin on it. Apply a tiny amount twice daily with a q-tip, and rub it in well -- you won't want her to get it on her paws when she's grooming herself and then lick them.

Here's some recommended reading material for new pig owners:

https://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/threads/113176-Information-for-new-guinea-pig-owners
https://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/threads/107827-What-NOT-to-do-for-your-guinea-pigs!

Now the issue is she won?t let me catch her. I could get her in the little box I got when I bought her from the pet store but now that she?s in he cage I can?t get her to save my life. Any tips. Can I make her run into her little dome and scoop her up or no

Whenever one of my boys decides they want to play, "catch me if you can" with the old man, I herd them into a pigloo and then reach in with one hand and scoop them under their chest, just behind their front legs. Then I scoop under their bum with the other hand. Be very, very careful. The last thing you want is for her to jump out of your hands at any height.

I just cleaned her cage out because she pooped all over the place and petco told me to get a little tunnel and pick her up in that. Also I put her in the big tub so I can clean the cage and she was making a funny sound. So I put her back in her cage. But now the issue is I still need to get her to put her medicine on her

I know you feel bad for this pet but if you bought the pig like this its already a bad sign. I think you should return the pig to the pet store and get a new pig from a legitimate rescue or shelter. As sad as it is, your better off not supporting companies like petco and petsmart that keep their pigs in horrible conditions. Not to mention, pigs from pet stores usually don't make very good pets.

It's best not to buy pigs because you feel sorry for them. And Petland is still not a legitimate rescue or shelter they make money off of impulse purchases like petco and petsmart. And you may be attached but its best not to be too attached because pet store piggies don't usually live very long. If your going to keep her you should take her to an exotics vet.

If you're near Dallas, there's an excellent guinea pig rescue in Lewisville, between Dallas and Denton -- Texas Rustlers Small Animal Rescue. Here's their website: https://www.theguineapigrescue.com/

Yes, it's normal.

But that cage is WAY too small for a guinea pig. If you're looking for another pig from a rescue, you're going to have to prove to them that you have a MUCH larger cage for two pigs. The bare minimum for one pig is about eight square feet, and it's more for two pigs. I'm guessing you don't even have five square feet in that cage.

And the pigloo takes up too much room. Also, it's hard to get hay out of that rack. If you're going to keep using it, stuff it full and pull some of the hay strands through into the cage so the pig can get hold of them. The bars are too close together for her to get her nose into to grab the hay.

I am getting a new cage when I have the money To do so. also I do not have much room for anything bigger then that. Yes I know about the hay feeder I got to bring it down. The person who cleaned her cage last night moved it so that?s why it?s like that... thanks for ur input

Take a look at the Photo Gallery on this site for pictures on how to maximize space.

But whatever you do, do NOT put another guinea in that cage. Lack of space is a major reason for aggression among guinea pigs, and you'll just be issuing an invitation for slashed faces and bitten ears. THEN you'll have an expensive vet visit. It'll be far cheaper to get a larger cage. i'm sure you bought that at a pet store, and the management should be shot for allowing staff to sell a cage that small for a guinea pig. It would also have been better for you to do your research before you got the pig, rather than spending good money for that cage and for the pigloo.

Look at the main page of this site for information on how to cheaply build your own cages and coroplast page.

Not having enough money or space is in no way an excuse for keeping an animal in poor conditions. This is what tends to happen when you make an impulse purchase.

It is completely unfair to keep an animal you are unprepared for. If you do not have the money or space it is best to take the piggy to a rescue where she will be taken care of.

I don't mean to sound harsh but you can't keep this animal in those conditions. Its cruel. C&C cages are what this forum preaches about. They are cheap and can fit into almost any shape you need.

Thanks for your input. But I am keeping her she is just a baby right now. So I am sure her cage is fine right now I am getting a bigger one off of chewy.com that is big enough.

Excuse me for sounding rude but that cage is not acceptable no matter the age. What cage are you getting off chewy.com?

Chewy doesn't sell a cage that meets even the minimum standards for guinea pigs.
