Would it be worth upgrading my cage?

I think I will when I upgrade to a C&C cage, which I hope will be this weekend.

Have you also considered getting your pig a friend? I know this is OT, but if you are going to make her a bigger cage to make your pig happier, then why not make her REALLY happy and get her someone to play with? It is not much harder to keep a cage clean that has two pigs than it is for one.

I actually am thinking of it, our local SPCA has 4 guinea pigs so I might adopt one of those for her, the thing is though I want to get one that is atleast 2 so it is closer to her age.

Just remember to quarantine. I have learned that the hard way in the past. It's especially a good idea if you have a five year old piggie who may not be able to recover from illness as easily.

As in quarantine before putting them together? Or when one gets sick to quarantine like always.

You want to quarantine a new pig for three weeks before introducing them. Guinea pigs are notorious for hiding symptoms of illness, and this quarantine lets you know for sure that they are healthy and gives the newbie a chance to destress from the change of location before you put them together. If you build your original pig a C&C cage, you can use the old store cage for quarantine for those three weeks.

Sorry for double posting, but I couldn't find the edit button. With the fleece do I need to do any sewing of any kind, and should it be pinned down and if so how? And I have read about putting things called puppy pads under it, what exactly are these and where can I find them, I have never heard of them before. And does anyone know where I can find Coroplast in State College PA? for those who don't know State College is where Penn State University is Located.

No need to do any sewing unless you're really creative. I cut my fleece long enough, so I can clip the edges over the tray with binder clips. Puppy pads are the disposable pads you can put on the floor or in crates when you're housebreaking a puppy. You can get them in the pet sections in most discount stores, drug stores, or even dollar stores. As far as coroplast, check sign stores, art stores, or hardware stores. I don't know particular stores in State College, but I would think it should be reasonably easy to find in a college town.

I'm sure she will. If you do a forum search on fleece (search boxes in the upper right hand corner) and look at the cages in the picture galleries, you should get lots of ideas.

I was just going to say that. That's what I did when I adopted my second piggie. One is 2 months old and the other is 5 months old so they both won't go through puberty at the same time and it is obvious who the dominant one will be.

Even my kmart in podunk Mich has aspen so I would talk to your local walmart/kmart (though I don't support going to walmart at all) and have them order aspen bedding if they don't already carry it. The corporation carries it so it wouldn't be hard for them to order some.

Or you can order on amazon. It's not that much more expensive to do this and you will be helping your piggy have a longer life.

However, as the others have said, fleece is cheaper and not harder to clean, IMO. You just have to take it out and wash it. Simple, simple!

Well I know I can find the cubes easily, it's the coroplast I am worried about. What should I search on yellowpages, just Coroplast or what? I am thinking of doing a 2x4 grid cage, so I am thinking about 3.5 x 5.5 feet of Coroplast would do it.

They'd be more than willing to assist you in this, but just incase, I would tell them what you need the coroplast for. If you dont want to cut the shape into it, someone there should be able to help you.

Well I did a yellowbook search on Coroplast, came up with nothing, but when I did Corrugated Plastic I found a ton of locations. This might be good advice to anyone else having trouble finding Coroplast.
