I made a separate thread about my piggie who passed yesterday, my question now is about her sister who is still alive. I got them back in 2020 and 4 months later I got another. They never got along, picked on the new piggie even now. Live piggie Anora does not like the other bean, bean also does not like other piggies and seems fine by herself. Would like to get her a cage mate sometime but in no rush since she likes being alone and has never shown any signs indicating otherwise. I’m worried about Anora though, she’s been with her sister since I got them. Had to be separated for a month when she got a cyst and they were very happy to be together when she was healed. Is there anything I can do to help introduce her to a new cage mate? Was thinking a male and of course getting him neutered because I don’t want any babies. I just don’t want her to become depressed and stop eating and being active because she’s alone and I know I’m not enough to fill the void. Any advice would be appreciated. I attached 2 pics, one is Anora and the other is her with Belle (passed) when they were no longer separated.

I’ve known Guinea pigs that have been perfectly fine alone. My friend has a Guinea pig, and she’s always been a loner. For your Guinea pig though, that’s not the case. But it seems to me that she doesnt like other Guinea pigs? If that’s the case, you could still try bonding another Guinea pig with her to see if they do get along. But if that doesn’t work, spend extra time with her. As Guinea pigs are very social animals <<rodents>> and need interaction. so if you end up not getting her a cage mate, then just spend some extra time with her so she doesn’t feel alone. :)

If there's a guinea pig rescue near you, they might let you do a "meet and greet" so your pig can pick out her own new partner.

Also, these two pigs might be fine if properly introduced. Two could be fine together without the third one. If you do try introducing them, read https://www.guinealynx.info/introductions.html first, and give it a LOT of time. Also, be sure that when you put them back in the cleaned cage, it smells NOTHING like either pig -- throw out the bedding, wipe down the entire cage including the bars, wash any washable hideys and at least temporarily remove any that aren't washable. And be sure the cage is large enough for two pigs -- at least eight square feet, and more is better.

Are their cages close together? They might be fine just interacting through the cage bars.

Thank you for responding, unfortunately Anora passed April 2. I believe it was mange mites since I found a couple scabs on her. With Belle I was unable to be with her in her final moments but I was with Anora. Luckily I heard a bump that I thought was my hamster but was actually from downstairs apartment, I still checked anyways. Wanted to hold one of my piggies and went for Anora and when she eats she curls into a lil ball and that is what she was doing but it didn’t feel right. I didn’t know it was the start of a seizure that she unfortunately did not pull through. Will be getting my other pig bean checked to make she doesn’t have anything since I didn’t think of mites right away. I brought bean to her and Anora snuggled into her (until the thought of mites so I put her back).

I'm so so sorry for your loss. Anora must have had a great life with u <3

I must ask, what do you think caused the seizure? Because them being born in 2020 seems on the young(er) side.

Again im so sorry for your loss, rip 💛

Yes they were 3 years old or about to be. I believe the seizure was caused by the itching. When pigs have mange mites the itching gets so bad it can cause them to have seizures. Some pull through and some don’t.
