I put a tub of warm water out when they go outdoors in the summer. When they get hot they jump in to cool themselves off. I had to coax them to go in the water at first.
I'm with them constantly. They're not let alone. They barely go in by themselves, usually I put them in and they walk around then jump out. SO it's perfectly safe.
