4 Story Utility Shelving Stacked Cage - Guinea Pig Cages

4'x2' utility shelving used along with coroplast, cubes, and many zip ties to make this cage.
I always try for 1 16oz bottle per pig plus 1 on each cage, some have more depending on how much they drink.

Hardly. Per utility shelving box, each level can hold 50 pounds. Not even close to what two pigs, some bedding, toys, and food weighs.

Don't knock it before you try it. Buy sturdy, not cheap.

What a cool setup!!!! My Mom is trying to start a recuse and plans on using your design in her shelter for all kids of animals. What a good idea!!!

Emily, it's not really a matter of opinion. Erin is a highly respected cavy caretaker and rescuer. I've used that utility shelving and it is most definitely sound and stable. Her cages are rock solid. It's a very good model for anyone to use.

Thanks T.

I surely wouldn't put my pigs at risk intentionally and I could have spent less money on a unit that was less sturdy but knew that it wouldn't be a wise choice for this sort of set up for animals. There were several set up in the store where I purchased this from, aside from it's larger size, it was the most stable when assembled properly.

Where did you get the utility shelves? It would be super helpful if you could tell me. Thanks

I got the shelves at Home Depot. Make sure you get the one that is 24"x36", there are smaller ones there that will not be adequete to use.
