That was my biggest hurdle when planning this cage. There is a 3'+ lid on each top (the middle's top and upper level's top), which gives me complete access to those two levels.
As for the lower level, the other cage picture shows it better. There are 2 grids which lift up to allow access to the lower level. It gives just enough room to be able to reach everywhere inside, as well as enough room to take things out to clean.
Thanks! I would have liked a one level too, but if I wanted it big I had to build up...so I did. Of course I do like it when people come to visit and see the cage. They go between amazement and bewilderment (wondering why in the world anyone would build such a big thing for such small pets).
Nope. There is a wide ramp that gradually goes down to the middle level, and there is also a hammock next to it that they can jump on to bypass part of the ramp. They have a blast going up and down the ramp, and sometimes use the hammock too. I put the hammock there just to make sure they don't fall, as well as to provide a place to sleep. They prefer to play on it.
