020 - Guinea Pig Cages

This was my pig's cage originally but they didn't get along so the top is now a 2x4 without a ramp.
I see you use black fleece. How is that working for you? I tried the fleece becuase the Carefresh gets ridiculously expensive. I use 2 bags a month for a 2x4 grid cage. Each bag costs me $20, with tax. That's just too much for bedding alone. But when I put fleece blankets down the stink was awful within 2 days. I'm back to Carefresh but have to come up with something more economical. Great cage, by the way.

I started using fleece (its actually green) due the cost too. I like it much better and so do the pigs. They love to cuddle up in it. For me the smell doesn't get to bad. I layer newspaper underneath and vacuum the poops about once a day and wash the fleece one a week.

tferro you might find it usefull to litter train your piggies so they dont well... use the fleece. they will have accidents still but the price of litter and stench will be reduced alot. if any further comments or questions just message me =)

Did you wash the fleece 5 or more times? Without softener? There is a post here called something like "The study of Fleece" in the bedding area. You can get all the information on how to make fleece not smell there.
Also, put towels or mattress pads under the fleece, as fleece doesn't absorb anything.
