Question Fleece Flippers - Does anyone use puppy pads underneath?

We are planning to use Fleece Flippers (either from Guinea Pig Market or homemade - or both) in our new C&C cage. Has anyone had an issue with poops, pee, hay, etc. falling down in the cracks between the flippers and/or between the edge of the flippers and the coroplast base? I was wondering if that will be an issue. Is there a need to use a disposable puppy pad underneath? Is anyone using the puppy pads (or similar item) underneath flippers, or do your flippers just sit directly on the coro base? Thanks in advance for your advice/info!

protect the coroplast to ensure its longevity
Just as an FYI... I've had a piece of coroplast leaning up against the outside of my garage for two years, and it's in as good shape as it was when I put it there. I actually think the stuff is pretty indestructible.
