    Some AMAZING news!

Because Dede didn't show her normal interest in her CC bowl this morning, I gave them a bowl of Harringtons pellets...and Dede's at least eaten two of them!!
It looks like she kinda sucks them up, then leans to one side so can chew with one of her molar pairs...it goes in...she chews for about 5 or so minutes, takes a rest and picks up another one so it's gotta be going somewhere!!

Great start to the day Dede!

Here are the two 'sister' pictures

Dede's at the back...she never sits still! I see them as Delta's the older, calmer sister and Dede is the one who just wants to go exploring and do this and that..she just wants to do it all and can never stay still!

Dede deciding it would be a good idea to climb over Delta...Delta didn't seem to think it was funny.

Just incase there is anyone on here that isn't on Guinealynx and who has any ideas to help I'll post it here as well.

    I need some help.

Dede started going off her plate yesterday and today she wont touch any CC on it.

She'll beg for more and more from the syringe but will completely ignore the plate.

What can I do so she has CC available at all times?

The vet mentioned something about having like a bottle filled with CC and she could drink it from there...does anyone have any idea how that would work?

I believe if you made the CC particularly watery, it could work pretty well. It sounds like a great idea on your vets part. A bottle with a ball bearing tip instead of the nib-tips (anti-drip style) would probably be best as it seems like CC would come out easier that way.

I love reading about these two special little girls.

If you did the bottle method you would have to make sure it didn't dry in the nozzle and get clogged up, I imagine that could happen quite quickly depending on the the consistency of the mix which you would have to make quite thin to even get it to come out of the bottle. On the flip side if you made it too thin she would have to consume more to get the same amounts of nutrients.

I am sure you are aware of how frequently the mix would need to be changed as you currently give it to them on a plate, but a bottle would hold more so you wouldn't be able to fill it up that far without wasting quite a bit. It would take some trial and error to get the consistency and quantity right, that is assuming she even would take it from the bottle to begin with, but it might be worth giving it a try.

Re: Two possible lethal white borns today

I never gave the bottle a try as she's never used a bottle, so I felt it was safer to keep using the plate even though she's still not eating as much as she did/some times doesn't touch it.

We're now using the new stuff mixed with CC, and I am back to syringe feeding her....It feels as if she's gone backwards rather than forwards. She does every now and then lick up from the plate, and she does eat pellets.

The size difference between the two sisters is rather big...Delta is a good 300 grams & growing, while Dede is currently hanging between 170 - 190 grams and isn't gaining weight really.

I am trying to imagine it from her perspective, eating liquid food from a plate maybe more difficult or less appealing as opposed to eating from a syringe.

Can she eat veggies like lettuce? If so, maybe try putting the food on the lettuce a bit?

She's never shown in any interest in hay or veggies, I don't know why but little Dede hasn't....it's very strange really.

We're going to get some pumpkin and add it to the wet food as have been told it may help.

#RODENTCUDDLES.........I know that you have a lot of experience with Critical Care. Based on my experience, I doubt that it would be suitable for a bottle. It thickens SO much that it would either dry out and/or clog the spout.

Will she not eat from a small ceramic bowl? At least she could still eat even after it thickens. I have used a small creme brulee dish. I honestly don't have any good ideas. My Chester needed supplemental feeding recently and considered his CC a treat. He liked the original anise flavor, but really prefers the apple/banana. I tried feeding him from a bowl, but he just couldn't get the hang of it.

@spy9doc - She no longer gets CC as it was costing over $70 a week just for the CC....and someone made us up a handfeeding 'wet food' just like CC which Dede now gets.

She wont have the wet food/CC type food from a bowl..she will only lick it up which is why the plate is good...she's slowly started eating from the plate again..strange girl. I don't know why she stopped.

I hope you all don't mind all the pictures...
