KMS, if you buy in bulk. The price per lbs. would be the cheapest.

    Hmmm... I'm afraid that's a contradiction, . The healthy ones aren't low-priced.
I prefer the Oxbow Essentials for Guinea Pigs. I use the same brand, but the rabbit version, for my rabbits, so when I got piggies I stuck with the same, trusted brand.
Oxbow is considered a good food.

    Perhaps others have more ideas.

Yep haha I'm afraid you get what you pay for with pellets. KMS is one of the best, if not the best. The only way you're going to save some money is if you buy in bulk from them.
Hay is another matter, if you get a bale of timothy hay from a reputable farmer, that's usually about 15 bucks. That'll save you quite a bit of money that you can put towards their pellets instead.

Oxbow is cheaper for me than KMS. I use Oxbow, and I've tried KMS but my pigs preferred Oxbow. You should be able to get Oxbow for about the same as some of the poorer quality foods.

Just an fyi for next time since I get oxbow too.
    I order mine from www.wag.com
super fast shipping (like 2-3 days), and free for orders $49+ but cheap shipping cost for orders of less value too.
first time customers get 20% off pet food purchases and they always have coupons too.
I ordered 25lbs bag pellets and get oxbow timothy hay there as well - ordered 9lbs box last time but will go with 25lbs next time

I feed my piggies ( mouse and hamster) supreme guinea pig food. They love it and their coats are super shiny and healthy. However it's not cheep it's $25 a bag. I buy it from petco, but I think they are not going to sell it anymore. So you can score some really good deals on it . I bought a few bags for $3 -$7 a bag!!!
Check out your local petco but all stores might have deferent prices.

That Supreme pet food is one that has flakes and other bits in, yes? Not just a solid pellet? It's not a great idea to feed that.

Flakes? Maybe ? What's bad about that? I'm a newer guinea pig parent. :-/ Click image for larger version.

That food shouldn't be fed to adult pigs.

Do the math, KMS is, in fact, cheaper. I live on the opposite side of the country from KMS and their pellets are cheaper than Oxbow. I save about a $1 per pound.

By flakes I meant a muesli type food, sorry, I really could have worded that better.

While that is a plain pellet, the first ingredient is alfalfa related; only suitable for a pig under 6 months. The second ingredient is wheat related, and wheat isn't great for piggies. You need a pellet that's first ingredient is grass, at least, and preferably with nothing molasses related.

It's only preferable, really. So long as it isn't too high up on the list it's not the worst thing.

yeah, it's like KMS, it's pretty far down the list. It is actually the last ingredient.
